About This Pub
Ah, Bocata in Carlisle – it's one of those spots that really knows how to crank up the energy with its top-notch live singer who can belt out anything and get the crowd going. I've heard from a few folks that the atmosphere can be spot on for a memorable night, with everyone dancing and the bar staff being absolute stars, making sure drinks flow and spirits stay high. It's got that warm, community feel that's just right for letting your hair down after a long week. But, let's be straight, it's not all smooth sailing – there are tales of broken glass littering the floor, wet patches that could trip you up, and even some altercations that make you think twice about sticking around. Plus, the music volume's a bit of a mixed bag; it's fantastic if you're in the mood for a proper blast, but it can be overwhelming and chase away those after a quieter pint. All in all, if you're up for a lively sesh and don't mind the odd hiccup, it's worth a visit, but maybe plan for an evening when things are in full swing and keep an eye on the vibe as you go in.
Pros and Cons

-
The bar staff are friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It has a lively, upbeat atmosphere that's perfect for a fun night out with mates in Carlisle.
Cons
-
There have been reports of safety issues like broken glass, wet floors, and even fights, which can make the place feel a bit dodgy at times.
-
The music can be far too loud, especially in the afternoon, spilling out and bothering folks even outside the venue.
-
With inconsistent opening hours and only being open four days a week, it might be tricky to catch it at the right time.

Broken glass everywhere. Wet floor with more broken glass. Fighting! Lots of young men milling around outside. Didn't feel safe. Shame as singer was great and bar staff good.
Best evening in Carlisle the singer was spot on amazing could sing anything ,danced the night away .
People who don't appreciate good music don't come to Carlisle and criticise the singers or the volume of music in the afternoon as it's a city so stay at home and keep quiet!
Especially in the afternoon when folk are out to enjoy 😉
Who is that Mr Macphisto get a life you saddo. Brilliant pub great music the singer can sing anything and had the whole bar going. Absolutely loved it thank you.
On a hot sunny afternoon we fancied going into Bocata but walked away as the music was deafening. Others were walking away too. We found a table outside the Andalusian which is around 100 yds away, and around a corner, yet we could still hear the singer blaring out, hearing every word which made a conversation even 100yds away rather difficult. This would be bad enough on an evening but ridiculous on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Turn it down Bocata and have some respect for people sitting outside other bars, your competitors and those unfortunate enough to who live within earshot of your bar.
What a great night, the place was heaving when we arrived, but the atmosphere was friendly and happy. The bar staff were brilliant. The music had everyone up dancing and having fun.
