About This Pub

So, picture this – you're popping into the Boars Head for a relaxed evening, and right away, you're struck by how welcoming it all feels. The staff are just brilliant, always up for a chat and making sure everyone has a great time, which really adds to the homely vibe. The food's a standout too; I've heard from mates and seen in the reviews that their home-cooked meals, like those tasty pies and fresh Ploughman's, are proper winners, paired perfectly with a quality pint. Plus, with all those events on offer – quiz nights, tribute acts, and more – it's easy to see why it's a go-to for a fun night out. It's affordable as well, so you can enjoy without worrying about the bill. On the downside, though, that damp smell in the ladies' loos is a bit of a letdown and could do with fixing, and if you're after a packed house, it might feel a tad quiet on off nights. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers in Blackpool, with more highs than lows, and I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times it delivers.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home.
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty, home-cooked dishes like delicious pies and Ploughman's lunches that really hit the mark.
  • It's got a lovely, spacious atmosphere with a traditional pub vibe, and they host loads of fun events like quiz nights and tribute acts to keep things lively.
  • Prices are really reasonable, making it a brilliant spot for a casual get-together without emptying your wallet.
Cons
  • There's a noticeable damp smell in the ladies' toilets, which can put a bit of a damper on the experience and might need some attention.
  • It can be quite quiet at times, especially if you're after a buzzing crowd, so it might not always feel as lively as you'd hope.

Great looking traditional pub on the outside & inside. Looked like good snooker/pool facilities, just under wraps at time of day we visited. Great sized portion of gourmet chips. Very tasty. Only off putting things was strong smell of damp in ladies loos. Think damp course may need some attention

Both me and my dad Had a very nice Ploghmans tonight from here, it had Pork Pie, 2 cheeses, ham, apple, grapes , salad, coleslaw and pickled onions, an 2 chutneys. With a crusty baguette. It ticked every box, lovely food , great service. Always find it welcoming and great food here. See you again soon 😀

Very quiet when we ate at Boars Head. We tried as we live locally, it's like a tardis inside with nice architectural features. We both had pies- steak and kidney, steak and blue cheese with proper pub cooked chips. All in all a good experience.
