About This Pub
Ah, the Blue Pits Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? With a solid 4.4 rating from folks who've popped in, it's clear that many appreciate the warm, welcoming vibe and the landlady's friendly touch. I love how it's perfect for settling in with a nice pint and maybe a hearty pie – that Holland one with gravy and peas sounds like a winner for a proper meal. The prices are dead reasonable too, so you can enjoy a few drinks without worrying about the wallet. On the flip side, if you're up for something more energetic, it might not quite hit the mark; it's more about quiet surroundings and a relaxed crowd, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. Still, for a straightforward, no-nonsense spot to unwind, it's got that charm that keeps people coming back – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, especially for a midweek wind-down or a casual quiz night.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is really welcoming and friendly, making it a great spot for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
They've got a solid selection of beers, including top-notch pints that hit the spot every time.
-
Prices are spot on for a budget-friendly night out – you won't break the bank for a good drink or a bite.
-
Service is quick and efficient; you'll be served and seated without any faff, which is always a plus.
-
The food's a highlight, like that superb Holland pie with gravy and peas – proper comforting grub.
Cons
-
It might feel a bit too quiet if you're after a lively, buzzing evening; it's more suited to a chilled vibe.
-
The beer selection, while decent, isn't anything extraordinary – some might find it a tad unremarkable.
-
It's not the place for a younger crowd looking for a 'rockin' night out, so it could disappoint if that's what you're after.

Went there for a quiz (we lost 😞 ) But great pub. Nice pint, Holland pie n gravy n peas was superb.
Served and seated straight away.
Great land lady good pint top selection beers , good customers
The three stars are a reflection on what you might want. If you're 21 and looking for a 'rockin' night, then The Blue Pits is not for you. However, if you want a quiet drink in quiet surroundings, then this may be the place for you. The beer is J W Lees,(unremarkable), but they are particularly welcoming of dogs
I would like to say this pub has such an amazing environment and such outstanding hospitality!
I recommend if you’re ever in the area you should pop in and grab a drink, alcoholic or not because they have a wide range of beverages and they are very well priced!
Highly recommended
