About This Pub
Ah, Big Hands in Manchester – what a spot it is! I've been looking into the reviews, and it's clear this place has a real charm about it. The atmosphere is just brilliant; it's got that authentic, muso bar feel where you can unwind after a gig or soak up the vibes with friends. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, and the music and beer choices are spot on, making it easy to while away the evening. That rooftop terrace is a real highlight – imagine sitting up there on a warm summer night, surrounded by greenery, with a cold drink in hand. It's no wonder folks rave about it for events and get-togethers. On the flip side, though, prices might pinch a bit if you're a student watching the pennies, and the inside can be a little too dark for some tastes, which might put you off if you're after something brighter. Plus, the music can crank up and drown out chats at times, so it's not always the quiet haven you'd expect. All in all, it's a cracking choice for a night out if you're up for some energy and good company, but keep those points in mind for the full picture.

Went in here for drinks after a gig at the students union. Great atmosphere and prices ok. Ended up staying in here till about 01:30am. Can definitely recommend for meeting up for pre or post gig drinks.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Music selection is as good as beer selection. Their drinks are reasonably priced but given the area it is located could be a bit expensive for the students surrounding it. Atmosphere is amazing with their rooftop seating being great in summer. DJs are great most of the time and seating is impeccable.
Came here for my first gig in Manchester and the place helped sell me the city! Moved not long after visiting and not planning on leaving soon. Great venue for a drink or to watch a gig, Sour Grapes have done some incredible events here! Roof terrace and a little smoking area downstairs means plenty of spots for everyone. Also the arancini is divine. Love the atmosphere at this place! Big up Big Hands.
This place is an absolute gem of a bar. The atmosphere and energy of it is magic.
Sat on roof terrace which is surrounded with lots of greenery. Super cool music and vibes. Love it. The bar and decor isn't a polished fancy bar. It is real, authentic muso bar. The icing on the cake is the wee food place on the roof terrace. This was a surprise to me as I didn't know it was there. Sipping a beer in the sunshine then glance over to see pizzas and snacks. A genuine Sicilian pizza kitchen. Oh my days - food was unbelievably good. Truly restaurant quality food served and presented almost festival style. For a moment we were transported to Glastonbury ( the music, the greenery, the beer, the food )
You cannot come to Manchester without visiting this place. One of favourites for sure.
Even visit just for the food. It really was incredible. Inexpensive yet very high quality.
I'm just hungry for more just typing this.
Come here on a warm evening and sit in the rooftop garden with a cool beer, it’s really peaceful. Just hope they don’t play the music too loudly and ruin the atmosphere. The inside is a bit too dark for my liking but each to their own.
