About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the Baydale Beck Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway, tucked away in the lovely West End of Darlington near some beautiful countryside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; people are going on about their delicious home-cooked dishes, especially those Sunday dinners that sound like a proper treat, with tasty sides and attentive service that makes you feel looked after. The atmosphere is spot on too – imagine sinking into a chair by a roaring log fire on a chilly evening, or heading out to the garden with a playground for the kids, which is brilliant if you're out with family. And don't get me started on the drinks; they've got an impressive gin shelf with options from all over, plus great ales and wines that could keep you chatting for hours. On the flip side, it's not always perfect – I've heard a couple of mentions about seating being wet without any warning, which could be a bit of a nuisance on a rainy day, and it might feel a tad quiet if you're in the mood for something more lively. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a welcoming spot to enjoy good grub and a chat with mates, and with ratings hovering around 4.4, it's clear most folks leave with a smile.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – their Sunday roasts and home-cooked meals have got rave reviews, with folks raving about the cauliflower cheese and generous portions.
-
It's got such a warm and welcoming vibe, with cosy bar rooms featuring log fires and flagstone floors, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a long day.
-
They're super family-friendly, boasting a large garden with a children's playground and outdoor seating, ideal for enjoying a sunny afternoon with the little ones.
-
The drink selection is brilliant, especially their huge range of gins from around the world, plus hand-pulled ales and some cracking wines by the glass.
Cons
-
Occasionally, there might be issues with seating, like if it's wet and not clearly marked, which could put a dampener on your visit.
-
It can be surprisingly quiet at times, which is great if you fancy a peaceful pint, but might not hit the spot if you're after a more buzzing atmosphere.

Good food and service very helpful staff but seats were soaking wet with no signs on to say that they were wet. Never been in when it's been so quiet. Has been busy when visited previously
A nice place. My first time there though. But I like the place especially the conservatory which makes you bask in the sun. Lovely.....
The food was good and tastes nice. The atmosphere is serene. Got beautiful and neat environment spacious to accommodate children on the play ground, but you have to monitor them.
They have great staffs and beautiful at that they were spot on with delivery of food and courteous. In all they are good.
I will be there when next I'm in Darlington, and I recommend 100% if you are within conscliffe, Darlington
Keep it up.
This has to be one of the best sunday dinners me and my husband have had for a long time. The cauliflower cheese was amazing, my husband said its the best he's ever had! (That's a big compliment). The staff are friendly and attentive. Really wished we lived closer we would be here every week xx
What a pleasure to eat here, the staff are friendly and efficient.
We popped in for lunch not realising it was D'ton restaurant week, with two courses for £15, so that was a Brucie bonus.
They have a full vegetarian menu, along with a vegan one and then their normal menu, with a good range of different meat and fish dishes.
It's certainly the best range of veggie and vegan food in Darlington and quite possibly the whole of Co Durham.
Came in as a walk in (early) and seated in the airy conservatory. Dinners arrived quickly and service was very good.
“Small” Sunday lunch served with two really nicely sized (and thick) slices of beef, loads of tasty gravy, a couple of roasties, mash and parsnip. Extra side of pigs in blankets is a must with decent sausage and bacon making them larger than typical chipolatas wrapped in cheap bacon. Great dinner and good value for money.
