About This Pub
Ah, the Barley Sheaf – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart when you step inside. I've heard from mates that the staff are absolute stars, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels included, which really sets the tone for a great night out. The atmosphere is spot on too, with a mix of regulars and newcomers chatting away, and that pool table adds a bit of excitement without overwhelming the place. Plus, the beers are reliably good, and it's all at a price that won't leave you rummaging for change. On the flip side, though, there was that one sticky situation where they were pretty firm about kids not being allowed in without proper supervision, which might not sit well if you're out with the family. Still, overall, it's a solid spot that deserves a visit – just keep in mind it's more geared towards adults looking for a relaxed, community-driven hangout. If you're in Dunfermline, I'd say give it a go and see for yourself; it's the kind of place that could become your new local favourite.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with interesting folks around, perfect for a chat and a pint.
-
They offer a good selection of beers, like that spot-on Heineken that's always poured just right.
-
The pub has a classic old-style vibe with a pool table, which adds to the fun and community feel.
-
It's an inexpensive spot, so you can enjoy a few drinks without breaking the bank, and it's great to support these local gems.
Cons
-
There are strict rules about children on the premises, like not allowing them in certain areas without an adult, which might put off families or groups with kids.
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing from what I've seen, with varying times listed, so it might be tricky to plan a visit.

My kid and her friend wasn't aloud in the toilets. Got a raised voice telling them that they can't be on premises without an adult. My daughter and the staff came over and and staff asked me if I was her mum. Then proceeded to tell us they can't Go to bathroom!
Friendly staff interesting clients..Barley sheaf no money, or card, but here I am three pints in. Such a friendly crowd.
Good pub, excellent staff and nice atmosphere 👍
My local which unfortunately I don’t get to it a lot, old style pub with pool table staff very friendly and good selection of beers 🍺
New to the area (ish) and made to feel very welcome by locals....plus the Heineken is spot on, keeps its head to the bottom of the glass,
The seats needed doing, but they've now been fully recovered and look great.
These types of pubs need our support....use it or lose it.
