About This Pub

Ah, Cottars – it's one of those neighbourhood gems that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place has this really inviting feel, with staff who go out of their way to make you smile, and the food? Well, it's proper comforting grub, like that steak pie everyone's raving about, served up in massive portions at prices that won't leave you skint. The beer garden and pool table add a nice touch for when you fancy a game or just soaking up the fresh air. It's open every day from 11am till midnight, so it's super convenient for popping in after work or on a weekend. On the flip side, though, there was that one tale of woe where things went pear-shaped with orders getting bungled and a waiter being a bit short-tempered – it's a shame, as it could sour an otherwise great visit. Overall, I'd say it's worth checking out if you're in Dunfermline; just keep your expectations realistic for service, and you'll likely have a top-notch time sharing a few pints and laughs with friends.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is spot on – think hearty pub grub like amazing steak pie with huge portions, and great value deals like two meals for £12 on weekdays.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere with a pool table and a beer garden, perfect for a relaxed pint or a bit of fun with mates.
  • Dog-friendly vibes mean you can bring your furry friend along, which is always a bonus for us animal lovers.
  • Priced affordably, so it's an easy choice for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There have been a few reports of dodgy service, like orders getting mixed up or staff being a bit abrupt, which can really put a dampener on things.
  • It might not be the quietest spot all the time, especially if you're after a completely peaceful pint on busier days.

First time here on Saturday. The bar maid was so lovely and friendly and always smiling. The steak pie was amazing and a huge portion. Traditional bar food menu, something for everyone and the prices per meal are excellent. Dog friendly too. Will definitely be back here soon with my family.

I received what was probably the most unpleasant experience I have received in my life, waitress was an absolute jobsworth took our order wrong 5 times. Plate slammed down Infront of me, in the end never even received my chips which I paid for. Not 1 thing was correct on all 3 orders, won't go into details but the place is a rundown shambles and the food is horrendous, if your prepared to deal with an arrogant waitress then be my guest you shall see for yourself, I WONT BE BACK
