About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about the Barley Mow – it's one of those pubs that just makes you smile as soon as you step inside. I love how welcoming the whole place is; the team there go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, whether you're just popping in for a pint or settling in for a full meal. The food is spot on – proper, hearty dishes that taste like they've been made with real care, and it's all at prices that won't leave you feeling short-changed. Plus, with its lovely outdoor areas by the canal, it's perfect for a lazy afternoon with friends, watching the world go by. On the downside, it's more your classic British pub vibe, so if you're in the mood for something a bit more polished or trendy, it might not quite hit the mark. And, fair warning, it does get lively, especially when there's an event on, which could mean it's a tad crowded for a quiet chat. All in all, though, it's a gem of a spot that does the simple things brilliantly – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Cons
-
It might feel a bit traditional and straightforward for those after something more upscale or modern – no fancy frills here, just solid, no-nonsense pub grub.
-
It can get quite busy, especially with families or events, which might mean a wait for a table or a noisier atmosphere at peak times.

Telephoned for a table at 5.00 pm on Sunday and although the kitchen was closing the pub accommodated four of us and I enjoyed a turkey roast and my colleagues fish and chips. There is a pleasant outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and the landlord was very accomodating nothing was too much trouble thoroughly recommended
We popped into the bar while attending a kids' party in their adjacent function room, The Barley Barn. They were serving food, so we decided to have a Sunday roast. The food was top notch. Proper home style cooking without any pretentious gimics. The beef was well cooked, the yorkies well raised and pretty big, with the usual roast potatoes and veg. Good portion size, and very friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely eat there again if I'm in the area.
We were moored near the Barley Mow for nearly two weeks. We felt welcome. Drinks a good price. The food was delicious and we ate there several times. The cottage pie is a must. The food is not expensive and there is plenty on your plate.
Seriously people, this is the place to be if you're in the area, or looking for a place to go specifically.
You will be literally 15ft from the canal, watching and waving to the boats going by.
The pub itself is just amazingly friendly.
The beers are good, real ciders are available and the food is amazing. The Sunday roasts especially so.
Can't recommend it enough!
Enjoy!
Stopped here when passing during a canal holiday, so we turned up a little early for lunch. Despite this, we were welcomed warmly and every effort was made to serve our meal early, even though we were happy to wait. Amazing home cooked food, really impressed. Good portion sizes too! Dad had a pie and it looked amazing. Can't fault the service, food or price. Great convenient moorings just outside too. If you're cruising by, be sure to stop in.
