About This Pub

So, let me tell you about the Ashington & District Comrades Social Club – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper hideaway for a good time with mates. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the atmosphere is spot on, with that classic, welcoming feel where you can chat with the locals and soak in the community spirit. They've got some brilliant events lined up, like the Tina Turner tribute night or bingo sessions with decent prizes, and the beers are always flowing nicely. The function room upstairs is massive and kept really tidy, making it ideal for a big night out or even something like a boxing show. On the downside, though, parking's a bit of a nightmare in the area, which could put a dampener on things if you're driving over. Plus, without a website or clear opening times, it's not the easiest to plan a visit, and that uncertainty might leave you scratching your head. All in all, if you're after an honest, down-to-earth venue with plenty of heart, it's worth checking out, but do keep those practical bits in mind for a smoother experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's got that warm, traditional working man's club vibe with friendly locals and a real sense of community.
  • They host brilliant events like Tina Turner tribute nights, bingo with good prize money, and even boxing shows, making it a lively spot for a great night out.
  • The beers are top-notch, with plenty of options to enjoy while you're there.
  • The venue itself is huge and well-maintained, with a large function room upstairs that's clean and perfect for gatherings.
  • It's clearly a well-loved place, as everyone seems to have a fantastic time, from the music to the overall experience.
Cons
  • Parking around the club can be a right pain, making it tricky to get to sometimes.
  • There's no website or online info, which means it's hard to check what's on or the opening hours before you head over.
  • The operating status isn't clear from what's available, so you might turn up and find it's not as accessible as you'd hope.
