About This Pub
Ah, Ascott's Bromsgrove – it's one of those places that really captures the essence of a good night out in Bromsgrove, serving up proper street food grub and a solid lineup of craft beers and cocktails. From the reviews I've had a look at, the food often steals the show with its bold flavours and generous portions, and it's ace that they've thought about everyone with plenty of veggie choices and even being dog-friendly. The atmosphere is just right for catching up with friends, and the staff seem to go out of their way to make you feel at home. That said, it's not all perfect – I've seen a few mentions of dishes that didn't quite live up to expectations, like some bland options that left a sour note, and the prices can add up quicker than you'd think, so it might not be the best for a budget evening. Still, with its handy location near the train station and the option to book online, it's worth giving it a go if you're nearby, just maybe plan for a quieter time to avoid any waits. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal, but keep an eye on those inconsistencies to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is generally spot on, with a fantastic selection of authentic street food like burgers and tacos that really hit the spot.
-
They've got a cracking range of craft beers and cocktails, perfect for unwinding with mates.
-
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great place to pop in for a meal or a casual drink.
-
Staff are friendly and accommodating, and it's brilliant that they've got plenty of options for vegetarians and even welcome dogs along.
Cons
-
Prices can feel a tad steep, especially for things like burgers and sides, which might make you pause before ordering.
-
Food quality isn't always consistent – some dishes have been described as bland or underwhelming, which is a bit of a shame.
-
Waiting times for food can drag on longer than you'd hope, so it's worth checking if you're in a rush.
-
Parking is limited around the area, so you might end up walking from the train station car park, which isn't ideal on a rainy day.

Not sure if we got unlucky, but picked up some food today and it was poor. I had the pork belly and it was just wet fat and really bland. Could only eat a couple as it really wasn’t pleasant. Loaded fries were ok, but again nothing special. It’s a shame as previously was worth a visit.
First time visiting Ascots in Bromsgrove last night with my friend - which we planned to stay for food on a quick stop. When we asked the reception for how long a kebab would take they said shortly 5 - 10 minuets as so we thought since it is already cooked as we arrived. Although after waiting a long 40 minuets are food still had not arrived at our table so after we finished our drinks we lefts disgraceful attention to customer service!
We have just visited for the first time tonight and had a good meal. We booked online about 2hrs before we wanted a table so we’re pleased we could do that.
It was as only 1820 when we walked in and there was a really good atmosphere inside. We sat downstairs next to the window. Staff were good taking orders and making g you feel welcome.
We ordered a portion of belly pork bites to start - 5 pieces which was fine for the 2 of us. The pieces were quite different from each other - some crispy, some not, some with no fat and some with quite a lot of fat.
We both ordered a burger - my wife the Yorkshire dipping burger and me the Louisiana stack. Both came with either spicy or plain fries (though my spicy fries didn’t take at all spicy). The burgers were loaded with fillings and were very tasty. The problem is the burger buns are quite small and can’t cope with the contents so were quite difficult to eat - don’t feel that using a knife and fork is how you eat a burger.
So overall a good rather than a great experience. £48 for 2 burgers, fries and Diet Coke felt a little costly
Great food, service and dog friendly. We booked a table in the bar area late afternoon on Saturday 25th January. Good time to go for us and with our dog as not too many people in the bar area. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered three sides, a burger and loaded fries. Food was delicious and there was plenty enough for two. Left feeling very full! Our dog had lots of fuss from the customers too which he loved.
This is a great small and local place to eat and have a drink with superb service, great choice of drinks and tasty food. However, the prices are absolutely extortionate. The burgers we had were £16.00 each … that was just for a burger! We then had to pay an extra £8.50 for some chips with jalapeños, cheese, guacamole and sour cream on and a further £8.50 for just three chicken tenders!!! We could have had a lot more food for the same price as one burger at a chain restaurant which makes you wonder why people decide to stick to known named places which is a shame!
