About This Pub
Ah, Angels – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart, especially if you're out with the family or just catching up with mates. Tucked away near Butts Lane park and the town centre, it's part of the McMullen family and has been serving up the goods since 1957, which gives it that lovely, timeless feel. I love how they've got a soft play area indoors for the kids – it's just £2.50 a pop and means you can actually enjoy your meal without little ones causing chaos. The food's generally a treat too; think hearty Sunday roasts, tasty pizzas, and some cracking salads that go down a storm with a pint of local ale or a glass of wine. The team behind the bar are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. But, let's keep it real, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few tales of burnt pizzas or dry burgers, and some folks reckon the place needs a good tidy-up now and then to keep things sparkling. Still, with a decent 4.0 rating overall, it's clear most people have a great time, especially families who appreciate the family-friendly setup. If you're heading out for a relaxed afternoon or an evening with friends, I'd say give Angels a go; it's got that homely charm, but just keep expectations in check for the odd off day.
Pros and Cons

The food hits the mark with traditional British classics like Sunday roasts and fresh pizzas, paired with a great selection of local ales and wines.
-
The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere, with outdoor seating, dog-friendly vibes, and easy access for wheelchairs, plus it's conveniently located near the park and town centre.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like overcooked chips or dry burgers, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
-
The place could do with a deeper clean in spots, as a few visitors have noted it doesn't always feel as fresh as it could.
-
It can get quite lively with kids and groups, which is great for families but might not be ideal if you're after a quiet pint.

The food was horrible.
Chips was black because they never change that oil. Burger was dry, not juicy. And pizza was burned 🔥
Need a clean all the pub.
The staff was nice and friendly .
They have a small soft play inside,£2.50 for children.
Really exceptional place, highly recommend! Whether you're coming with kids (which we didn't, but there is a soft play area), with friends or, in our case, an informal work meeting, Angels caters for all. Its really beautifully decorated, the food was great and portion size just right, and the staff super friendly! Will come back and bring the family!
For families with kids (less than ~10 years old) this place is a gem.
The indoor playground keeps kids well entertained while waiting for food.
The food was really good we had Crispy Chicken Caesar Salad and Mix Grill Plate both were delicious.
Vibe is pleasant specially for families with kids.
Although the place is big so there are other quieter corners if u don’t have kids.
I was a little apprehensive about going here, but it’s actually not too bad a pub. The food they serve is basic pub food and from what I can remember it arrived fairly quickly. Although the first time I visited her we were sat opposite the soft play area and I think there must’ve been a party on and it was absolute carnage and very noisy so make sure that you Get seated in one of the quieter seats and I’m sure your visit will be fine. The staff are very polite and attentive and the choice of food and beers is all good as well.
Another bonus is that it is dog friendly too.
Great place to take families or friends. The children's section has a small soft play area, which costs £2.50 per child and gets added to your bill.
Our first time here and we were very impressed.
