About This Pub

Ah, the Alexandra Arms – what a gem it is for anyone who loves a proper British pub experience. From what folks are saying, it's got this fantastic selection of beers that really hits the spot, whether you're after a classic ale or something a bit more adventurous. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome, which makes it such a cosy spot to relax in. That unique decor with beer mats plastered everywhere adds a real character to the place, reminding you of those timeless pub traditions that never go out of style. It's often buzzing, especially on busier days, so if you're up for a lively atmosphere with your mates, this could be your new go-to. On the flip side, the opening times do seem to vary a bit, which might catch you out if you're not checking ahead – nothing major, but it's worth noting so you don't turn up to a closed door. Plus, it's tucked away a little, so it might take some navigating if you're not local, and I've heard it can feel different on occasion, like one visit might be more subdued than another. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a pint; the overwhelmingly positive vibes from the reviews make it clear that the good far outweighs the bad, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try for that authentic pub charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on – they've got a brilliant range of cask ales and traditional brews that cater to all tastes, making it a real treat for any ale enthusiast.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming; you'll feel right at home as soon as you walk in, with that warm pub vibe that's hard to beat.
  • It's got such a charming, traditional atmosphere, complete with quirky decor like beer mats covering the walls, which adds a fun, nostalgic touch to the experience.
  • The place often buzzes with energy, especially on weekends, so it's perfect if you're after a lively spot to catch up with mates over a pint.
Cons
  • The operating hours can seem a bit inconsistent from what I've seen, which might leave you scratching your head if you're planning a visit and it doesn't quite match up.
  • Being a bit of a hidden gem, it might be tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area, so you could end up wandering around Kettering a tad longer than expected.
  • While the reviews are glowing, there was one mention of the vibe changing on different visits, so it might not always hit the same high note every time you pop in.

We popped in one evening 7 months ago when we were passing the area. We were welcomed by the friendly bar staff. Nice pub. We liked the atmosphere. We especially liked the beer mats that covered the walls We since returned lastnight. Different vibe. Great night. Friendly staff, welcomed once again, would absolutely return

Enjoyed the ambiance in this pub on a flying visit to Kettering. I used to do this beermat thing in my schooldays before I was supposed to be drinking what sat on top of them so it took me back to see a similar effect. Very well kept beer and some interesting new ones to me as well as one of my favourites, Jaipur, tho I didn't have that this time out. I left with the distinct impression you aren't going to get a bad pint in here.

A hidden gem been to Kettering so many times and never found this place before. Friendly bar staff good selection of cask ale and for a Saturday late afternoon seemed very busy.
