About This Pub
You know, when I was having a chat with my mates about good pubs around Liverpool, 1894 Bar & Bistro really stood out as a hidden gem in Crosby. It's part of the Marine Football Club, which gives it that warm, community feel – perfect for popping in for a casual meal or to watch the game. The food is brilliant; we're talking delicious options like full English breakfasts, burgers on special offer, and even lovely buffets that are as tasty as they are well-presented. The drinks selection is spot on too, with local brews and great coffees that pair nicely with it all. And the staff? They're an absolute delight, always cheerful and on hand to sort you out, whether it's for a quick cocktail or helping with family events like Breakfast with Santa, which sounds like a right laugh for the little ones. On the downside, though, it's not all perfect – the outdoor area can feel a bit cramped when the sun's out, and there've been a few grumbles about not having enough seating or keeping things maintained, which might leave you hunting for a spot. Still, with a solid 4.3 rating overall, it's got more hits than misses, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a relaxed vibe with good grub and a bit of fun, just maybe plan ahead for peak times.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – from hearty full English breakfasts and delicious burgers to impressive buffets, it's all well-prepared and tasty, with great value specials like the Marine burger deal.
-
The staff are lovely and really welcoming, going out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time, whether it's serving up cocktails or organising fun events.
-
It's a proper family-friendly spot with activities like Breakfast with Santa, plus a clean and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including local beers and speciality coffees, and the outdoor area is a nice touch for sunny days.
-
With live sport on the telly and a community vibe tied to the Marine Football Club, it's a brilliant place for a casual get-together or to catch up with mates.
Cons
-
Outdoor seating can be a bit limited, especially on warmer days when it's popular, and they've had some moans about not replacing old chairs, which is a shame.
-
It can get quite noisy during events or busy times, so if you're after a peaceful spot for a quiet drink, it might not always hit the mark.
-
There are occasional gripes about things not being quite up to scratch, like the one review mentioning a lack of enough chairs, which could put a dampener on things.

It's 20 odd degrees outside and there simply isn't enough chairs outside, although last year there was many more, why wouldn't you replace the old ones. Makes no sense whatsoever. What brains of Britain is running this place, ridiculous.
We had the Marine burger which was on special offer on Wednesdays including a pint of beer for £12.50. The food was delicious and recommended you visit. Menu of their website.
Attended a christening on Sunday 23 March.
In my 69 years I've had numerous buffets but the food provided not only tasted beautiful but the presentation was fantastic.
I ate so much of the buffet that I didn't eat again till Monday evening.
The kebabs, salads, homemade fish fingers., we're exceptional.
My absolute favourites were the different quiches, stew (scouse) and feta salad.
All the left over food was boxed and contents named. I took some sliced turkey. I wish I'd taken some kebabs as well.
All round excellent food and servoce
This is my rating for the Friday afternoon social event. It's noisy, popular and highly entertaining. Great value: only 5 quid.
Breakfast with Santa this morning (Christmas eve) was fab! Really well organised, the elves and Santa did an amazing job of making sure everyone had a fabulous morning, I hope it's a tradition we can carry on year after year...breakfast was also lovely! My girls loved having a dance with Santa and the elves too. What a lovely morning 🎄😊
