About This Pub
Ah, the White Swan – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper neighbourhood favourite, tucked away in Sutton-in-Ashfield. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere where you can settle in for a pint and maybe catch the latest match on the telly. The food really stands out; folks rave about the fish and chips, with huge portions that are fresh and tasty, and the service is spot on with staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's also handy for a quick stop if you're near the bus station, and the outdoor area is a nice touch for when the weather's playing ball. On the downside, it does get a bit heaving at times, so you might find yourself queuing or squeezing in, and with no recent reviews to go on, I'm a tad curious if things have stayed as brilliant as they were earlier in the year. Still, it's got a solid 4.3 rating from over 200 folks, so I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after a good laugh, a decent meal, and that classic pub charm – just pop in and see for yourself!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think massive portions of fish and chips that are crispy, fresh, and cooked to perfection, making it a real treat after a long day.
-
The staff are super friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
-
It's a brilliant spot for sports fans, with regular coverage of matches and a lively atmosphere where you can cheer on your team with the crowd.
-
The location near the bus station is spot on for a quick pint or meal while you're out and about, and they've got a great outdoor area that's kid and dog friendly.
-
Overall, it's a proper local gem with a warm, familiar feel that makes you want to pop in for 'the usual' and stay for a while.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy at times, which might mean waiting for a seat or dealing with a bit of a crowd, especially during events or peak hours.
-
There haven't been many recent reviews, so it's hard to tell if everything's still running as smoothly as it was a few months back – always good to check beforehand.
-
The website suggests it might be closed at the moment, which could be a temporary thing, but it's worth double-checking the opening times to avoid any disappointment.

Local style at the Bus Station Sutton-In-Ashfield, feels like it's been there forever. Was once in the old style of Lounge and Tap room, but like most was opened up to larger pub with some outdoor space. Good layout, generally a pleasant place to be in, can get relatively busy. Good for coming off the bus or heading home like me 🙂 Recommended
Great little pub by the bus stops, the food was 5 stars, beautifully cooked to perfection and hot, the price is very good too. Landlord is a top bloke. Definitely coming back here.
Popped in while shopping and waiting for the bus. Me and the husband both had the cod and chips and wow! Portion size is amazing, the batter is beautiful, crispy batter with a really meaty cod. Chips cooked to perfection and everything is made from fresh. The service was quick and very friendly. In all if I could this would have a 6 star rating.
A fantastic pub. I dropped in for a pint or two recently while on a visit to my old home town. I found this pub very welcoming and friendly. The interior is a bit dominated by snooker tables! But they have a great patio outside. It's kid friendly. Dog friendly. And if you're waiting for your bus, as I often was, I recommend you drop in for a pint. It takes the boredom out of waiting and you can see your bus turning up! Makes life easy. I drank Mansfield Smooth - good to see it on tap. I will return next time I'm home.
Food and drinks were fabulous, staff are brilliant and the atmosphere was peaceful despite it being busy we had a lovely relaxing family meal, thank you we will be returning soon x
