About This Pub

Ah, the Devonshire Arms – it's one of those cosy spots that feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, inviting vibe where the staff are always on point, chatting away and making sure everyone's sorted, which really adds to the fun. The beer garden is a highlight, especially on a sunny day; it's spacious and just the ticket for enjoying a drink al fresco without any fuss. Plus, with all those offers on drinks and events like bingo, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back for a relaxed get-together. On the flip side, it does tend to shut up shop a tad early, which could cut short your evening if you're in the mood for more. And while the recent buzz is all positive, that 4.0 rating suggests there might be the occasional off day or something that doesn't quite hit the mark for everyone. Still, it's a solid choice for a laid-back pint or two – I'd say give it a go and see what you think!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, always up for a chat and super helpful.
  • They've got a cracking beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint in hand.
  • It's great value for money with inexpensive drinks and some tempting offers on beers and shots.
  • There's a welcoming atmosphere with fun events like bingo, making it a lively spot for a catch-up or a game.
Cons
  • It seems to close a bit early sometimes, which might put a dampener on plans for a longer night out.
  • With an overall rating of 4.0, there might be the odd inconsistency in service or vibe that doesn't show up in the latest feedback.

My recent visit to the Devonshire Arms in Sutton was an absolute pleasure, and I'm keen to share my experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere and charming setting made it a standout pub. One of the highlights for us was the lovely outdoor decking area. It was spacious, well-maintained, and provided a perfect spot to enjoy a drink on a sunny afternoon. There was ample seating, and it felt like a real oasis. Inside, the conservatory was equally appealing. Bright and airy, it offered a comfortable space for dining or simply relaxing with a drink, even if the weather wasn't cooperating outside. The natural light made it feel particularly inviting. For those who appreciate a good drink, the Devonshire Arms certainly delivers. I was impressed by their wide choice of bottled beers and spirits. Whether you're a fan of craft ales, classic lagers, or something a bit stronger, there seemed to be something to suit every taste. My companion particularly enjoyed exploring some of the more unique gin offerings. In terms of pricing, I found it to be reasonable and in line with other similar establishments in the area. We enjoyed a couple of rounds of drinks and a light snack, and the bill was what I would expect for the quality of the experience. While I don't recall the exact prices of individual items, I felt it offered good value for money. Overall, the Devonshire Arms in Sutton is a gem. The combination of its attractive outdoor space, the bright and comfortable conservatory, and the impressive selection of drinks makes it a place I would happily return to. Whether you're looking for a relaxed drink in the sun, a comfortable spot indoors, or a pub with a great range of beverages, the Devonshire Arms is well worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Looking for a Gem in Sutton-in-Ashfield The Devonshire Arms presents a compelling package for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. I went for bingo and card bingo which is on Wednesdays at 1:30pm which was fun and social event, got to meet some great people. The staff were amazing, helpful and could have a laugh with them. I think as much as people knock Marston's the value for money was great, I had a carlsburg which was £2.85 a pint so it didn't break the bank The convenience of free parking is a significant plus, especially in a town centre location. Knowing you can park without additional charges removes a potential hassle of having to pay more. The pub was very clean no horrible smell like you get in some places, the atmosphere was buzzing at bingo can see why people call this a great pub, caters for all!! The Devonshire Arms appears to live up to this claim. With a games room (including pool table), a main lounge with entertainment, and a conservatory area, there are different spaces to enjoy. It also welcomes dogs, making it a great option for pet owners looking for a place to relax with their furry friends.
