About This Pub

Ah, the White Horse – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the second you step inside. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, with cheerful service that's as reliable as a good old British cuppa. The food stands out too; whether it's a hearty Sunday roast or those daily changing specials with fresh fish, it's all prepared with real care and comes out tasting spot on. And let's not forget the outdoor bits – the garden and patio are brilliant for soaking up the sunshine, especially if you've got a dog in tow, as it's super accommodating for them. Plus, with a solid lineup of real ales and cocktails, it's easy to settle in for a proper chat over drinks. On the flip side, it's nestled away in the countryside, which is lovely for a peaceful escape but might not hit the mark if you're craving a lively, central hub with more hustle and bustle. The kitchen does close a bit early on some days, so planning ahead is key if you're aiming for an evening meal. All in all, it's a gem for a laid-back visit, and I'd say it's well worth popping by for a bite and a bevvy – just keep those timings in mind for the full experience!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious roasts, fresh fish specials, and even treats like Easter brownies that leave you wanting more.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a pint with your furry friend.
  • The outdoor garden and patio are perfect for al fresco dining on a sunny day, adding to that charming country pub vibe.
  • They've got a great selection of award-winning real ales, stylish wines, and classic cocktails to suit all tastes.
  • The pub's private areas and event spaces, like the Paddock, are ideal for special occasions, accommodating up to 150 people with ease.
Cons
  • It's a bit tucked away in the countryside, so if you're after a buzzing high-street spot, you might find it a tad quiet or off the beaten path.
  • Kitchen hours can wrap up fairly early on weekdays, around 8:30 PM, which might limit options for a late dinner.
  • While the overall atmosphere is cosy with a roaring fire, it could feel a smidge traditional for those seeking something more modern or trendy.

What a great find!!! Was looking for a dog friendly pub with outdoor seating for a nice Sunday roast, and we got the jackpot. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. Will definitely be back. Thanks

A really nice Easter Monday lunch. We had a chicken burger and an Easter special roast lemon and thyme chicken served with mash and gravy. Couldn’t find any fault. We even decided to grab an Easter brownie dessert and were gifted one in return for our feedback. All through out our meal we were attentively served by Johnathan who had a great sense of humour and made an ordinary meal something special. Thanks again we will definitely be back! X
