About This Pub
Ah, Wangies in Manchester – what a spot it is, really. From the reviews, it's clear this place has a brilliant alternative edge, buzzing with live music and a jukebox that's just spot on for getting the crowd in the mood. Most folks rave about the welcoming staff and the down-to-earth regulars who make it feel like a proper community hub, and at such an affordable price, it's ideal for a relaxed evening without splashing out. That said, it's not all smooth sailing; there was this one tale of a chap being refused a drink over his cycling gear, which does seem a bit off and could leave a sour taste if you're not dressed to their liking. Overall, I'd say it's a solid choice for a good laugh and some tunes, but keep an eye out for those little niggles to ensure you have a top-notch visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely cracking, with live music and a top-notch jukebox that keeps the energy high and makes for a memorable night out.
-
Staff are generally lovely and welcoming, creating that warm, community feel that makes you want to come back for another pint.
-
It's a budget-friendly spot, so you can enjoy a good range of drinks without worrying about the wallet – perfect for a casual get-together.
-
The regulars add to the charm, fostering a real sense of belonging, especially if you're into that alternative, goth-inspired vibe.
Cons
-
There can be a bit of a strict dress code in play, as one review mentioned getting turned away for wearing cycling gear, which felt a tad unwelcoming.
-
Service might not always hit the mark, with that same experience highlighting some rudeness that could put a dampener on things.

Stopped by after a bikeride from Pennington flash for a pint. Waited outside for 30 minutes until the place opened. Went inside and was refused a drink in a completely empty establishment on a Tuesday afternoon at opening time because I was in my Cycling gear = Seen as tracksuit bottoms. Rude bar staff, had the cheek to apologise and call me "Babe" As she stood behind the bar mid conversation with her mobile phone on loadspeeker.
So I cycled around a mile up the road to a place called Floyds to enjoy a pint there. Speaks volumes why one place is empty and one place is full, if the passer by punter cant get a quick drink.
Very friendly, great choice juke box and high standard live music throughout the night. A night well worth checking out.
I absolutely love this pub and it's regulars. We visit for pool League and they could not be more friendly and welcoming. Great team, always a pleasure to see them all. This pub is quite goth, really cool, has a good range of drinks and great atmosphere. It's a gem out in the sticks of Eccles. The jukebox is the best I've ever known. Highly recommend a visit!

Best pub ever. Pity they’ve let the dress code slip a bit, this odd couple were in, one in “high waisted tracksuit flares”, the other smelt of cheese. Still the best pub in the world.
Excellent alternative pub. Live music. Great atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff
