About This Pub

Ah, Frankie & Benny's in Romford – it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a laid-back evening out, doesn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the food is mostly a winner, with hearty portions of American-Italian favourites that make you want to come back for more, like that cracking NYC Breakfast or a solid lasagne. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and on point, which adds a lovely touch to the whole experience, especially if you're popping in with the family or a big group of friends. They've got some brilliant deals too, like student discounts or those 2 for £12 cocktails, which make it feel even more inviting. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – there have been times when the food's come out a bit bland or not quite up to scratch, like with some wings or pasta that needed a tad more love in the kitchen. And while the prices are fair, you might find yourself thinking it's a bit steep if things aren't hitting the high notes that day. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a good time, especially if you're after that easy-going vibe near the cinema, but I'd say keep your expectations in check for the odd off moment – after all, it's all about balance when you're out for a bite with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is generally spot-on, with generous portions and classics like the Great NYC Breakfast that leave you feeling satisfied and happy.
  • Service is top-notch – friendly staff who are quick and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a great spot for families or groups, with a kids' menu and deals like 20% off for students, plus fun offers on cocktails.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a meal without any fuss.
  • Convenient location with perks like outdoor seating, wheelchair access, and being near the cinema, plus easy parking.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit bland or underwhelming, like certain meals that didn't live up to expectations in recent visits.
  • Pricing feels moderate but might not always match the quality, leaving you wondering if it's worth the spend on quieter days.
  • There are occasional inconsistencies, such as pasta not being cooked quite right, which can dampen an otherwise good outing.

The Great NYC Breakfast didn’t disappoint Everything was cooked well and served hot, with generous portions that hit the spot. The mix of classic breakfast items was satisfying alongside a chilled cherry cola, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Service was friendly and quick, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a nice way to start the day I’d happily come back for another breakfast soon!

Haven’t been f&b’s in a while and i know why. Food was bland and visit was disappointing. It wasn’t just one meal either, it was the chicken stack meal and both sets of wings. Price wasn’t great for what we got. Sorry f&b but what is going on!

It was a nice experience at Frankie and Benny’s especially with Ms Sandra at the drinks. Ms Aga was helpful and cheerful with a warm smile. Lasagne was top class. Spaghetti could have been better if boiled for a little longer….and the mocktails were superb.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the pleasant ambiance. The food was delicious and comforting—just like eating at a family member’s place. Every dish had that homemade feel, which made the meal all the more enjoyable. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and relaxing place to enjoy good food.
