About This Pub
Ah, Top End Bar – it's one of those hidden gems in Ashton-under-Lyne that really hits the spot for a laid-back pint or a catch-up with mates. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are the real stars; they're warm, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome, whether you're a regular or just popping in. The prices are an absolute bargain – think the cheapest beers in the area with some great deals thrown in, which makes it perfect for keeping things affordable on a night out. Plus, there's a solid selection of drinks, clean pool tables for a bit of entertainment, and the telly's often on with sports, so it's great if you're into that. On the flip side, it's cash only, which is a nod to the old-school vibe but can be a pain if you're used to tapping your card. And while the locals add to the character with their cheeky banter, it might feel a tad rough for those seeking a more refined crowd. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a genuine, friendly atmosphere – I'd say give it a go for a proper pub experience without the fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – from the landlord and landlady to the bar team, they're so welcoming and make you feel right at home.
-
Prices are spot on; it's got the best value for drinks in Ashton, with cheap beer and some cracking deals that won't break the bank.
-
They've got a good selection of beers and always keep things interesting with specials, plus the pool tables are clean and well-maintained for a bit of fun.
-
It's a proper local spot with a friendly atmosphere, where you can catch some sports on the telly and enjoy the banter with the regulars.
Cons
-
It's cash only, which keeps the prices low but can be a hassle if you're out of coins and notes.
-
Some of the locals might come across as a bit eccentric or rough around the edges, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after something more polished.

Absolutely fantastic bar landlord & landlady and bar staff make you so welcome prices are the best in Ashton
Sanjay is a great landlord, best prices in Ashton and the beer is nice, always has deals on and a good selection to choose from. It's cash only but it reflects in the low prices. Fantastic bar staff who are always friendly, Anita is a lovely women.
2 clean pool tables that are well looked after, sports always on including the football. Doesn't open after 10pm and never has any idiots in as the landlord has no place or time for it.
