About This Pub

Ah, Toby Carvery Walsall Broadway – it's one of those places that just hits the spot when you're in the mood for a classic British roast, doesn't it? From what I've gathered, the food is where they really shine; those slow-cooked meats and fresh veg are prepared with real care, and it's all laid out for you to help yourself, which is just brilliant for getting exactly what you fancy. The staff seem to be the heart of the place too, always chipping in with a friendly chat or a quick top-up, making it feel like a proper community hub for families and friends to gather over a meal. It's got that easy-going atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed afternoon, especially if you're nearby the Arboretum and fancy a bite after a walk. On the flip side, though, it can get absolutely packed, particularly on Sundays or special occasions, so you might find yourself in a queue or feeling a bit hemmed in – and don't forget, the heat from those carvery stations can make it quite warm, so it's worth planning ahead. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after reliable, comforting fare, but just keep in mind those busier moments to make the most of your visit; I'd say it's well worth a go for a satisfying feed with the gang.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The roast dinners are absolutely spot on – fresh, flavourful, and with loads of choices to pile your plate high, making it a real treat for anyone craving a proper British meal.
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and quick to help, which really makes you feel welcome and looked after.
  • It's a brilliant spot for families or catching up with mates, with an all-you-can-eat breakfast, kids' menu, and a good selection of drinks to suit everyone.
  • Handy location near Walsall Arboretum with plenty of parking, perfect for popping in after a stroll and making the most of a day out.
  • Booking a table is straightforward, helping to avoid any hassle and ensuring you can enjoy your visit without too much waiting around.
Cons
  • It can get incredibly busy, especially on weekends or holidays, which might mean queuing up or dealing with a bit of a wait for your table.
  • The place tends to feel quite warm inside because of the food stations, so you might want to dress lightly to stay comfortable during your meal.
  • Service can occasionally fall short on packed days, with some folks mentioning being overlooked at the door, which is a shame when the team is usually so on point.

Visited several times. Father's day today meant it was very busy, however the staff were great. Food was perfect. Thank you to Caitlin specifically who is always amazing.

Wow! Me and my family love this place! The atmosphere is great, and what we like the most is the excellent service; it always brightens our day as they have smiles on their faces and are super friendly. We’ve never had a bad experience here, the food is always on point and delicious! We come here almost every week or two, the kids are always asking to go here!❤️👏😍

It gets busy best to book a table in advance online. You also get ye full menu. Very simple to do. Because of the food station it is very warm in there best not to wear a big jumper/top. (That's why It lost a star). It is a roast dinner with loads of choice. I have never seen anyone not pile their plate high. You can have refillable glass, good choice of soft and fizzy drinks. Lots of families, couples, young and old. Celebrations going on. Good value for money. The staff are friendly and always busy. Great to have the Toby in Walsall nothing beats having a roast dinner made for you any day of the week.

My wife booked online via the Toby app and we visited The Broadway in Walsall this afternoon to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Upon arrival we joined a queue of people waiting to be seen/seated at the reception desk. After a 5 minute wait, and various members of staff walking past and ignoring us, we were finally seated. After walking past numerous empty tables we were seated in what can only be described as a walkway in front of a fire escape! Wallpaper peeling off the walls, damp visible and cobwebs hanging off the wall lights … romantic! We both chose to have the carvery and joined the queue. Seeing the turkey carcass that was left, I wasn’t filled with hope. My wife chose the turkey, I had what was left off the gammon and beef. We selected the potatoes/veg and went to our seats. The turkey turned out to be as dry as it looked, and my wife left all of it. The gammon was so chewy and the beef so fatty/stringy I struggled to chew them. Cold roast potatoes, hard peas, lumpy mash … I managed to eat the Yorkshire pudding. Only then when we stopped eating were we asked if everything was ok with our meals … clearly not! To be fair, I did get a refund for my uneaten meal, but as my wife had only left the dry turkey and eaten her veg they charged her for a vegetarian carvery! Not sure she managed to eat £10 worth of veg but hey-ho! As well as the disgusting food, you’ll get to ‘enjoy’ dirty walls, damaged seat covers, cobwebs everywhere … this place needs a bloody good clean and a refurb! Be warned!

Excellent location right near Walsall Arboretum; perfect for a meal after a nice walk. Loads of parking. Staff highly attentive, very friendly and helpful. I had encounters with 4 separate members of staff and each one was above average for customer service. Having not been to a Toby Carvery for years, a lady explained how everything worked (including the vegetarian menu). A staff member guessed I was looking for the drinks machine and directed me. After the machine was misbehaving slightly, the barman offered to pour the drinks for us. I noticed that waitresses cleaned up the tables and surrounding areas almost instantly, even after some pretty messy eaters. Likewise, the bill was issued almost instantly, meaning we all didn't have to wait around. It makes you wonder where they found these people. The food was great, as expected. It look around 5 minutes for my vegetarian meal to become available. Self serve areas full of fresh, delicious food. A very positive experience and definitely the best Toby Carvery experience I've had.
