About This Pub
Ah, Thirsty Cambridge – it's one of those places that really stands out in the Cambridge scene for anyone who appreciates a good craft beer or a glass of natural wine. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the drinks menu is an absolute treat, with a rotating selection of taps that keeps things fresh and exciting; I can imagine spending an evening sampling sours or trying out something new from breweries like Verdant. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and happy to suggest tasters, which makes you feel right at home. That communal seating adds to the fun, creating a vibrant spot where you can relax with friends or even strike up a conversation with someone new. And don't overlook the food trucks parked outside – they bring in some mouthwatering options that pair brilliantly with the drinks. On the flip side, it's worth noting that things can get a bit dear here, which is par for the course in this part of town, and the small space means it might feel a tad squished on busier nights, with just the one toilet to share. Plus, with limited hours and its location in a quieter spot, it might not suit spontaneous plans. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable night out, as long as you're up for that mix of highs and a few minor niggles – I'd say give it a go if you're in the mood for something a bit special.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of craft beers and natural wines is absolutely brilliant – always something new and exciting on tap, perfect for exploring your next favourite drink.
-
Staff are super knowledgeable and friendly; they'll offer tasters to help you pick just what you fancy, making the whole experience feel personal and welcoming.
-
It has a lively, communal vibe with a touch of that Bavarian beer hall charm, great for chatting with mates or meeting new folks over a pint.
-
Food trucks outside add a nice bonus, offering tasty options like tacos to pair with your drinks, which really elevates a casual night out.
Cons
-
Prices can be a tad on the steep side, as you'd expect in Cambridge, so it might not be the best spot if you're watching your wallet.
-
The place is quite small with only one toilet, which can get a bit cramped when it's busy – not ideal for larger groups.
-
Opening hours are limited, just four days a week starting from the afternoon, so you'll need to plan ahead if you're keen to pop in.
-
It's tucked away in a quieter corner, which gives it a hidden gem feel, but it might not be the easiest to find if you're not familiar with the area.

It's a small bar with a huge selection of great drinks. I'm a sour beer collector, and Thirsty offers a great range to try. Staff are knowledgeable and offer tasters, so you can find the perfect choice. Prices are a little high but to be expected from Cambridge.
Food truck outside for a unique dining experience. Small amount of seating that fills up quickly.
Thirsty on Chesterton Road is a must-visit for craft beer lovers in Cambridge. With 22 rotating taps featuring top-notch breweries like Verdant and Cloudwater, the beer selection is always exciting and diverse.
The vibrant Bavarian beer hall vibe, complete with communal seating, is complemented by a rotating lineup of food trucks offering delicious, freshly cooked dishes on the spot. Options like The Wandering Yak, Taco Man, and Scotties bring an incredible variety of flavors to pair with your pint.
The knowledgeable, friendly staff and dog-friendly policy add to the charm. Whether for a drink or a bite, Thirsty is a standout destination.
Wow what a place, if you like craft beers and good wine this is the place go. It's not a massive place but it has a big choice of drinks on tap. There was a food truck outside when we were there, the food looked fab but we didn't have any. Couple of tables and chairs out front. Only one toilet and had a bit of a queue at times. Its a bit out from the city centre, but you wont regret going here, staff very friendly and helpful, will be back 🍻🍻🍻
Hidden gem in a lonely corner 😅. Superb service, choice is real craft ales, beautiful ambience and a variety of selection of wine. Fridge is full of more choice of can and bottle beers. There’s a cool tacos stall just out at the door, just mouthwatering 😋
One of my favourite independent craft beer bottle shop and tap room in Cambridge. Staff are very friendly, very knowledgeable on their beers and always willing to help. They always have a great range of both beer and wine in their fridges with a great choice of fresh craft beer on tap! With the food trucks outside I definitely recommend Thirsty to anyone. 5 stars from me!
