About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Tivoli, it's got this infectious energy that makes it stand out in Cambridge – imagine wandering into a place with four floors of excitement, from buzzing shuffleboard sessions to cheeky mini golf courses, all set against the backdrop of the river. The food's generally a winner; I've heard loads of praise for the pizzas and how the staff go out of their way to accommodate dietary preferences, which is always a plus when you're out with a mixed group. That roof terrace is just brilliant for a sunny afternoon, offering insane views and a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink or catch an event like Wimbledon. On the flip side, it's not all perfect – a couple of folks weren't thrilled with certain dishes, like the chicken burger coming across as underwhelming, and it can get pretty packed, so you might have to queue or deal with a bit of a wait. Still, with its moderate prices and welcoming feel, it's a solid choice for anyone looking to mix good times with great company, as long as you keep expectations realistic for a popular spot like this.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The activities are an absolute blast – mini golf and shuffleboard make it a fun spot for groups, whether it's a birthday bash or a casual get-together.
-
The food hits the mark, especially the pizzas and burgers; plenty of folks rave about how delicious and well-cooked it is, with options for different dietary needs.
-
Staff are top-notch – friendly and efficient, even when things get busy, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
That roof terrace with its stunning views over Cambridge is a real gem; perfect for soaking up the sun or watching events like Wimbledon in style.
-
It's versatile for all sorts of occasions, from family outings to corporate dos, and the overall atmosphere keeps everyone coming back for more fun.
Cons
-
Some menu items can be a bit hit or miss; for instance, the chicken burger didn't impress one visitor, feeling like a step down from what they remembered.
-
It can get quite busy, which might mean waits for tables or service, though the team handles it well most of the time.
-
Portion sizes are generous, but that might not suit everyone – a few mentioned the pizzas are so big they could be overwhelming if you're not in a sharing mood.
-
Parking might be a concern in that part of town, though it's easier after 5pm, so planning ahead is key if you're driving.

Very impressed with this for a corporate do. I've not been this side of town for many years. Parking after 5pm wasn't a problem, surprisingly. Greeted on arrival, handed our 3 drink tokens, then upstairs for some fun. Back downstairs for food, which I must say was excellent. 15 of us and no complaints.
We had fantastic pizza 🍕 here after a fun few games of shuffleboard and mini golf as a party of 4. Cocktails were nice too and we had some fantastic seats by the river and on the terrace throughout the day... we'll be back!
We went as a group of friends for a meal from 5pm last Saturday.
Hannah, Blake and the whole team were friendly and efficient despite it being busy.
They catered for dietary needs and helped us with any questions. The food was delicious 😋 and cooked just right. Portion size of pizza means unless you’re very hungry, you can share😁
I had one issue using the QR code as although my food came, drinks didn’t but I spoke with the team at the bar and the drinks quickly came to the table.
Food and drink prices were fair. It was our first visit so we weren’t sure what to expect.
I would recommend!
If you want to spend some time doing something a little different in Cambridge, booking at the Tivoli should be your first port of call!
I took my Dad there for his birthday, so while he may not be the target demographic, he still had a great time playing mini golf, eating burgers with curly fries, and sliding pucks along the shuffleboard on the roof terrace. The only thing missing from our day was the sun, but never mind; the food and drinks made up for it. Also, it is worth saying that I think the Tivoli is now dishing up the best burger in Cambridge. Fighting talk, I know, but seriously, it was so good!
Thanks to Gasper and Thea for looking after us during our visit today. Attentive and genuine service with a smile always makes you feel that extra bit more welcome. A great palce for a birthdayay treat!
We popped in late afternoon with our two young children to meet a couple of friends. We ate, my chicken burger was very disappointing, they used to have steak and honour which was great, not a fan of caddy shack based on that chicken burger. The consensus was the pizza was ok, American style, big, generous with the cheese and sauce but not very refined, dough wasn't great. You get a buzzer and pick up your own food and get drinks from the bar. I did see a table laid though so perhaps bookings get service. They don't really do cask ales but some nice lagers and their own pale ale is on tap.
The stand out features are the games (shuffle board, crazy golf on another floor) and also the roof terrace and views of the Cam river. That makes the pub special and is probably why a lot of beers are £7. No doubt I'll be back with the kids to grab a drink and play some crazy golf. I also like the shabby chic decour.
