About This Pub

Ah, The Welcome – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away in Bishop Auckland. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this genuine, heartfelt atmosphere where everyone seems to go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're part of the gang from the moment you walk in. The beer is spot on and won't set you back much, which is always a win, and the decor with its rock and cult movie pics adds a fun, quirky touch that makes it stand out. It's clear folks love it as their local haunt, with rave reviews about the friendly service and that home-from-home feel. On the flip side, it's a small place, so space might be tight on busier nights, and the drink options are a bit limited, which could disappoint if you're in the mood for something specific. Still, with a solid rating like this, I'd say it's worth a visit for anyone after a proper, unpretentious pub experience – just keep in mind it might not be the spot for a big night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff and locals are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home, just like popping round to a mate's for a chat.
  • They serve cracking beer that's spot on and reasonably priced, so you won't break the bank for a good pint.
  • It's got a cosy, classic old-style decor with a brilliant picture gallery of rock and cult movies, which really adds to the charm and makes it feel unique.
Cons
  • The pub is on the smaller side with a limited range of drinks, so if you're after a wide selection, it might not hit the mark.
  • Being a bit off the beaten track in Bishop Auckland, it could be tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area.

Friendly small pub, small bar area. Car park to side. Classic old style decor. Not huge range of alcohol choices. Great as a local.
