About This Pub
Ah, The Volunteer – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely, unpretentious charm where the staff and regulars are dead welcoming, making it easy to settle in for a chat or a game of pool. I love how it's kept things simple with plenty of drink choices and those two pool tables for a bit of entertainment, and at such reasonable prices, it's spot on for a budget-friendly night out. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't do food, so you might need to pop elsewhere if you're getting hungry, and it does sound like it can be quieter than some might hope for, especially if you're after a buzzing atmosphere. Still, with that solid 4.2 rating, it's clear it's doing a lot right for those who appreciate a straightforward, community-focused spot. If you're in Wellingborough and fancy a pint without the fuss, I'd say give it a go – it's got that genuine feel that makes you want to come back.

They don't sell food for a start, service is great a real working man's pub. Friendly staff and even more friendly people that frequent there, they have 2 pool tables and have 2 pool teams, the best member of staff by far is Audrey the dog she is exceptionally friendly and cheerse up everytime I see her. Externally the pub don't look amazing but once inside it's actually quite nice and alot bigger than you would expect
Not as busy as I remember but then how many pubs are
Love the place.. good for normal local people. No fuss, just good atmosphere and plenty of drinks to choose from. Good place to start from if going into town to eat. 😁
Very friendly and warm atmosphere, fantastic bar staff.
Really nice atmosphere with friendly bar staff. I would return here and recommend to anyone who hasn't been before, as it's well worth a visit.
