About This Pub
Ah, The Victoria in Chester is one of those pubs that feels like a proper British institution, with its roots stretching back centuries and a buzz that draws in both locals and visitors for a pint or a bite. From what I've gathered from the chatter online, it's got this relaxed, historic vibe that's just ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing – imagine sinking into a cosy corner with a well-poured local ale and tucking into some hearty pub classics like burgers or a Sunday roast that folks rave about. The team behind the bar often come across as chatty and knowledgeable, making you feel right at home, and it's conveniently placed near the main attractions, so it's an easy choice for a casual meet-up. On the downside, though, some have mentioned the drinks edging towards the expensive side, and there have been a few grumbles about unexpected early closures that can cut your evening short, or not as many cask ale varieties as you'd hope for on certain days. That said, with an overall solid rating, it's clear this place does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth popping in for that authentic pub experience – just keep an eye on the time and your wallet for a balanced night out!

I used to come to this pub 25+years ago, it was definitely on the top bars list to start your Friday night out in Chester. I was amazed that after all this time, this pub is still buzzing.
An excellent atmosphere, classic pub offerings when it comes to beer and drinks.

A friendly and bustling pub with bags of historic character.
The server was friendly and she had a chat whilst she was serving my drinks.
There were two craft ales on a wide selection of stock beers.
Love the history of places like this so popped in for a drink, 10 mins after buying the rather expensive drinks we were told the pub was closing ( 9pm) and we had 5 mins to move to an adjacent disgusting sister pub (see pic). Absolutely shocking, regular visitors to chester but will never return here.
Possibly the best views in Chester from the Rows outside this 1st floor Greene King pub.
Down to one cask ale this Monday lunchtime - the lack lustre IPA - 50 pence surcharge added for half pints. The Courtyard at the back is used for events during busier times - can get noisy.
