About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Trawl – it's this gem of a place down in Bridlington that's got me proper chuffed from what I've heard from folks who've been. The fish and chips are just brilliant, all fresh and tasty with generous helpings that leave you satisfied, and it's clear the team behind the counter know their stuff, being so friendly and helpful that it makes the whole experience feel like catching up with mates. But, fair's fair, it's cash only, so don't forget to pop to the ATM first, and they can shut early if it's a quiet day, which might catch you out on a rainy afternoon. All in all, if you're after a straightforward, hearty meal with a smile, it's well worth a stop, though maybe plan around those little quirks to avoid any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot-on – think fresh, crispy fish and chips that's packed with flavour and served piping hot.
  • The staff are an absolute delight; they're friendly, informative, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
  • Portions are generous, so you won't leave feeling peckish, and it's all served up quickly, perfect for a relaxed meal by the sea.
  • It's a charming little spot in Bridlington that's clearly a hit with locals and visitors alike, based on the glowing feedback.
Cons
  • It's cash only, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're caught short and relying on cards.
  • They might close up shop early if things are quiet, especially with the weather playing up, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a visit.
  • No website or online presence means it's trickier to get the latest info on hours or specials – you're going in a bit blind.

Absolutely fantastic chip shop! My wife and I arrived with our 2 year old and as soon as we got inside the service was exceptional. The fish and chips were fantastic and the young man serving was exceptionally friendly and informative. Very helpful and friendly and really enjoyed our lunch. Expecially the 10p bandit to win a chocolate bar!! We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area.

Nice little fish restaurant. Young lady who served us was very informative of which fish had skin on. We opted for the trawl special which came out super quick and piping hot. Would definitely go there again when next in Bridlington

I came in for a takeaway order yesterday when the heavens had opened and a lot of places had closed due to low foot fall. The lady who served me was lovely, really chatty and friendly. They only take cash which was fine because I had pre-empted this, but it could easily catch you out if you aren't aware. The till is easily the oldest till I've seen in my life that isn't in a museum and the restaurant had a certain old fashioned charm. My fish and chips were absolutely lovely! I actually wanted scampi, but I wasn't at all disappointed that they didn't do it because the fish in particular was so delicious. I had cod and my husband had haddock and the batter was thin, crispy and fresh tasting. Not too greasy. I really, really enjoyed it. I will certainly return.

We went for their world famous homemade fish cakes and they did not disappoint. Beautifully made and very tasty and delicious. They were very generous with the chips which again tasted amazing. The service from the staff was exceptional especially Candice, absolutely lovely lady. If you are looking for fabulous food in Bridlington then look no further. Highly recommended 😎
