About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Tally Ho – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you if you're in the area for a casual get-together. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is where it shines brightest; a few folks raved about the Indian menu, saying the tandoori wings and lamb chops were absolute winners, full of juicy, perfectly spiced goodness that left them wanting more. The garden is another plus, especially on a sunny day, giving you that perfect outdoor escape to enjoy a pint or two. And the staff? Well, when they're on form, they're warm and attentive, making the whole experience feel like catching up with old mates. But, and I have to be straight here, it's not all smooth sailing – some have had a tough time with slow service because they're stretched thin, and there were grumbles about small portions or dishes that didn't quite deliver on taste. Then there's the odd drink that falls flat, like a cocktail that was more fizzy water than proper spirits. All things considered, with a solid 4.0 rating, it's still a place I'd recommend for a laid-back evening, just maybe keep expectations in check for those busier nights.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is a real highlight, especially the Indian dishes like tandoori wings and lamb chops – they're packed with flavour and spot on for a satisfying meal.
  • The staff can be incredibly welcoming and responsive, making you feel right at home, as one reviewer mentioned with their server Raja.
  • The garden area is brilliant for soaking up the sun on a warm evening, offering a lovely spot to relax with a drink.
  • It's got a charming building and a generally enjoyable atmosphere that makes it a great place to pop in for a quick bite or a catch-up.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit or miss, with not enough staff on hand leading to long waits for food, which might spoil the fun.
  • Portion sizes are sometimes on the small side, and flavours can be inconsistent, like when the sauce for starters ends up being the same across dishes.
  • Drinks don't always hit the mark, such as a Long Island ice tea that tasted more like coke and lime with barely any kick.

Didn't really enjoy the food. The sauce for the starters was exactly the same for what we ordered. Portion sizes small. The service was really bad. Not enough staff. The ones there were working off their feet. Food took long to come out to the table.

Stopped by for an impromptu lunch with my parents and ordered off the Indian menu. We were very pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the food. Our server Raja was very welcoming and responsive. We had a lovely time and will be sure to come again.

Food was ok at best, ordered Long Island ice tea and tasted of coke and lime with hardly any alcohol. You can see from the picture.

I liked it - despite the beer range being strongly macro. The garden was great on a warm May (1st) evening and was open to 23:30 giving a little more time to finish up (or just an excuse for another drink really). Really nice building (architecturally) and just an enjoyable experience all round.

My new favourite in North London! I was just passing by and decided to pop in for a quick bite, and I’m so glad I did. I only tried the tandoori wings and lamb chops, but wow… they were absolutely epic! The quality of the meat was top-notch, and the flavours were spot on, juicy, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection. You can tell a lot of care goes into their food. The decor and ambience is on point too, very classy! Definitely looking forward to coming back and exploring more of their extensive menu.
