About This Pub

Ah, The Elephant Inn, what a lovely spot it is in Finchley – I've got to say, it's one of those places that just feels like home from the moment you walk in. The staff are genuinely warm and attentive, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really makes the whole experience that bit more enjoyable. You're in for a treat with their authentic Thai food; whether it's a spicy green curry or some tasty spring rolls, it's all spot on and goes down a storm with their range of Fuller's beers. The live music on Fridays adds a brilliant energy, and if you're into sports, the dedicated section with its pool table is just the ticket for watching the game with friends. On the flip side, it can get a tad hectic during busy times, so you might want to book ahead to avoid any waits, and those operating hours do vary a bit, which could catch you out if you're aiming for a late session. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night – the high ratings speak for themselves, and I'd happily recommend it for anyone looking for a welcoming pub with a bit of everything to offer.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – super friendly, always helpful, and they go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, especially regulars and those popping in for a chat.
  • The Thai food is a real highlight; it's authentic, delicious, and pairs perfectly with a pint, whether you're dining upstairs or grabbing something to enjoy in the main area.
  • Live music on Fridays adds a fantastic buzz to the place, making it a lively spot for a night out, and the sports bar section is brilliant for catching games with mates.
  • They've got a great selection of beers on tap, including Fuller's classics, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening or a catch-up.
  • There's a heated outdoor area and an open pool table, which makes it stand out in Finchley for a bit of fun alongside your drinks.
Cons
  • The operating hours can seem a bit inconsistent at times, with varying closing times listed, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a late one.
  • It might get quite busy, especially with the live music and sports events, which could mean waits for tables or service on peak nights.
  • While the food and drinks are spot on, a few folks have mentioned it's not always the quietest spot, so if you're after a peaceful pint, it might not be ideal every time.

Absolutely love the live music. Eat upstairs in the Thai restaurant or order downstairs and enjoy the jazz at the same time. Staff are friendly and hard working. Been attending for years and never had a bad night.

Firstly I want to say the staff are brilliant super friendly, always helpful and take the time to know their regulars (in particular with elderly who come in) The young members of the staff are always helpful and I’ve personally seen them deal with difficult situations exceptional well. They’re just a lovely bunch of kids! The building itself has load of character and plenty of room. I’m a sports fan and this pub has loads of tvs to watch sports. Food is delicious and not too expensive. Mainly Thai and traditional pub food. They also have quiz night, jazz night and live music night. Which is great for cheap night out. All round a great pub to have in the area!

The Thai food at this family-run restaurant atop the pub was simply amazing. The cozy atmosphere combined with the delicious dishes made for a memorable dining experience. Nice local pub with good beer and great Thai restaurant upstairs. Good selection of beers on tap, new heated sitting area outside, but main star is the restaurant. We had a lovely dinner during 10pm covid closing times and came at 8, but received great service and had plenty of time to order and enjoy the food. It is hard for me to find authentic thai food locally, but this one hits the spot, especially the Panang curry was delicious. Only dissapointing dish was my favourite Tom Yum. Will be coming back!
