About This Pub
Ah, The Sharman's Cross in Solihull – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it with folks, the team there really knows how to make you feel welcome, with that warm, chatty atmosphere that's just right for catching up with mates over a drink. The food's a highlight too; their sizzling skillets and burgers are proper tasty, and it's all at prices that won't break the bank, which is brilliant for a casual get-together. Plus, they've got this great big outdoor area that's ace when the weather's playing ball, and it's nice to see them pitching in for local causes – makes you feel good about popping in. On the flip side, though, there are a few things that might leave you scratching your head, like the odd payment mix-up where you end up paying twice and waiting weeks for it to be sorted, which is a right nuisance. And let's be honest, sometimes the portions don't quite match what's on the menu, or a dish might not come out as you'd hoped, with things like soggy chips throwing off the experience. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear most people have a good time, so if you're heading out for a relaxed evening, it's worth giving it a go – just keep an eye on those little details to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
The food is spot on – think tasty sizzling skillets and flame-grilled burgers that hit the spot, especially with those great value daily offers.
-
It's got a lovely large outside seating area, perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint on a nice day.
-
They really get involved in the community, supporting local charities and even offering their function space for free – it's heartwarming to see.
-
Overall, it's a comfortable spot with honest, fair prices that make it easy on the wallet for a good night out.
Cons
-
There have been some hiccups with payments, like getting double-charged and having to wait ages for a refund, which can really put a dampener on things.
-
Food portions aren't always as promised – for instance, you might end up with half the garlic bread you expected, which feels a bit disappointing.
-
Occasionally, the food prep isn't quite up to scratch, like chips going soggy from being tucked under the fish, making for a less than ideal meal.
-
Service can be hit or miss; while they're generally polite, sorting out issues on the spot isn't always their strong suit.

Was visiting family and it was spur of the moment decision to go for meal, good choice by my nephew. Nice pub, food was very good as was the service, nice polite staff. Large outside seating area which was busy due to nice sunny weather. 🌞
Food was great, unfortunately we paid twice while using the app...asked at the bar they said they had sorted it. has gone out of bank twice..I've now been told it will take 6 to 8 weeks to be refunded! could have easily been refunded on the day! it's a shame a nice meal was spoilt by the staff who weren't really helpful or capable of dealing with a refund on a card. So be careful when ordering...
Lovely pub
Great value for money food was the best in any sizzler I've been too.
Been coming here for years. Since having a new chef by the name of James here the standards have dropped drastically. Ordered 2 starters of garlic cheesy bread only received 2 slices on each plate despite the menu saying you get 4. No garnishes on any of the other starters. This isnt the first time its happened, just doesnt seem like they care in the kitchen anymore. Ordered 2 steaks one rare the other medium rare. Why i received a medium and a medium well is beyond me! Who taught this guy how to cook because he clearly needs to learn again!!!
On the other hand, Deb is absolutely great! So helpful, very warm and welcoming. Definitely an asset!
Good honest food, friendly and welcoming team and comfortable environment. Good value too. The battered fish was crispy and not too oily though not sure if it's a good idea putting the chips under the fish as the condensation made the chips a bit soggy; the bbq ribs was well cooked and moist. Would come back.
