About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Seahorse – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles from the get-go. I've heard from folks who've been there that the food is an absolute winner; those Sunday roasts are legendary, with massive portions of perfectly cooked meats, rich gravy, and huge Yorkshires that leave you stuffed and smiling. They've got a bit of everything on the menu, from classic British fayre to some authentic Mexican options that surprise and delight. The staff are just lovely, always up for a natter and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the relaxed, homely feel of the place. Plus, if you're planning a wee trip around Northumberland, the B&B rooms are a bargain and include a complimentary brekkie tray – ideal for a quick getaway. On the flip side, it's worth noting that the opening times aren't always straightforward, so give them a ring first to avoid turning up when it's quiet or closed. And on busy nights, like their popular quiz or bingo evenings, it can fill up fast, so booking ahead is a smart move. All in all, it's a solid spot for a bite, a bevvy, or even a stay, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an appetite and an open mind!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty Sunday roasts with massive portions, tasty Mexican dishes, and even a cracking steakhouse grill that hits the spot every time.
  • Staff are proper friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's great value for a night out; meals start from just £15, and the B&B rooms are comfy and affordable, starting at £75 for a twin or double with brekkie included.
  • Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the bar, perfect for a quiz night, bingo, or just enjoying a drink with mates.
  • Convenient location near Blyth beach and with easy access to trains and the coast, making it a brilliant base for exploring Northumberland.
Cons
  • Operating hours aren't always crystal clear, so you might want to double-check before heading out to avoid any disappointment.
  • It can get a bit busy on popular evenings like Sunday lunch or quiz nights, which might mean waiting for a table if you haven't booked.
  • While the menu sounds ace, it's mostly focused on traditional pub grub and specials, so if you're after something really adventurous, it might not have the widest variety.

We decided to pop a long for the quiz, bingo night as they have new management We were made very welcome by the staff member. Its a relaxed atmosphere with good booze. The owner and his wife run a great bar, restaurant between them. They serve Sunday lunch and do an authentic Mexican menu. They have bed and breakfast available and a huge free car park. The Pub is only a 15 minute walk to our new railway station or 5 a minute drive to the town center or beach.

We visited for Mexican night and 10/10 would recommend for the staff, food, bar and accommodation. The food was cooked with love (props to the chef!) and the chocolate brownie was so light and airy while looking so naughty! Fantastic service from the two girls behind the bar and the rooms are specious, clean and quiet. We’ll be back 😊

Excellent value Sunday roast, one of the best we’ve had recently. Decent size portions, a choice of 1, 2 or 3 meats plus an extra large option, prices starting from £9.95 for 1 meat. Gluten free options available. The staff are really friendly too.
