About This Pub
Ah, the Rutland & Derby Arms, what a lovely little spot in Leicester's Old Town – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a warm hug when you walk in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the drinks are a real highlight; they've got this fantastic selection of beers and wines that makes choosing your tipple an adventure in itself. The staff are the heart of the place, always on point with their friendly chats and top-notch service, making every visit feel personal and enjoyable. That beer garden is another winner, especially on a sunny day, giving you a nice outdoor vibe without straying too far from the action inside. And don't forget the food – the new menu's got some cracking options that have left folks smiling, though I have to say, it might sting the wallet a bit if you're not in the mood for splashing out. On the flip side, things like the operating hours could do with a bit more clarity, as it might confuse you about when to swing by. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with mates, with that high 4.5 rating showing it's doing most things right, but keeping an eye on the prices could make it even better.

Recent Reviews
I recently visited Rutland and Darby Leicester and, while I haven’t yet had the opportunity to sample the food, I was impressed by several aspects of the venue. The drinks selection is extensive, with a strong variety of beers on tap and a wine menu that appears well-curated.
At the time of my visit, the pub was pleasantly quiet, which allowed for a relaxed experience. The beer garden is a particular highlight—spacious and well-maintained, it’s clearly ideal for socialising in finer weather.
The interior is stylish and thoughtfully laid out, although the green of the bar and a section of the ceiling might not be to everyone’s taste—though that’s entirely subjective.
The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. A special mention to Codie, who encouraged me to share this review.
I look forward to returning to try the food in future and would certainly recommend Darby and Ruth as a spot for drinks and conversation in Leicester.
Brilliant service and lovely local pub would highly recommend to those looking for a pint in a nice beer garden. Codie and Eloise were especially helpful and their service was fantastic all night, I wish all bar staff were like Codie and Eloise she’s a credit to Rutland and Derby.
Love the new look the R&D have. Loving the new menu too, Sam Morris has given exceptional kitchen service. Food and drinks were great! My family was very happy with the kind and friendly service this pub provided!
Brilliant Real Pub.
Lovely and friendly staff. Great outside space for when it's warmer and disabled access/automatic door opener too.
Allegedly it's going to have a refit soon so thought it best to upload some photos of what it looks like before it changes lol
Came here for the Sausage & Cider Festival. Place was busy with a lovely beer garden which included a roof terrace.
Cider selection was really good and we tried several options. Staff were nice and manager was very helpful.
Food itself was very nice but not worth the price, way overpriced for how much you get.
Also another dog friendly venue.
