About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Railway Inn, it just strikes me as one of those hidden gems in West Bromwich that's perfect for a relaxed evening out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food really steals the show – their curries and mixed grills are full of depth and come in generous portions that won't break the bank, which is always a win in my book. The owners and staff seem like proper locals, always quick with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds to that cosy, traditional pub feel they've managed to keep alive even with the recent updates. It's dead handy being right by the station, and having a car park makes it easy to pop in after a day out. On the flip side, I have to be honest, one person mentioned it fell a bit short of what they'd expected, so it might not wow everyone straight away, and the refurb isn't quite done, which could mean a few rough edges here and there. All in all, though, it's a great spot if you're after hearty grub and a friendly chat – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself; you might just end up a regular like so many others.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on, especially their curries and grills – packed with flavour and brilliant value for money.
-
The staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with mates.
-
It's got that charming old pub atmosphere with some fresh refurbishments, and it's conveniently located near the train station with a car park out back.
Cons
-
One review suggested it didn't quite live up to the hype, so if you've heard rave reviews, you might want to temper your expectations a bit.
-
The refurbishments aren't fully finished yet, so things could feel a tad incomplete in places.

As a curry aficionado and regular customer of various Desi pubs in the area this is simply one of the best ones for quality of food, the depth of flavour in their curries is at a new level. Bar service is always quick, owners are friendly, and pub retains some of its old atmosphere, unlike many other eateries of the same nature. For a curry dining out experience this is a must place to try.
Amazing place for Indian food. Staff is very friendly.
Popped in for a cheeky Sunday evening mix grill. Not been here for a couple of years. We've been before and the food was always on point. Not disappointed this time. The owners have invested in refurbished aspects of the pub and outdoor area. Still not quite finished but you can see and feel the vision. The food service and quality after a long period away from the railway was on point......superb in fact as my wife just said. We will definitely be coming back. Place is warm..... welcoming and reasonably priced. Everything you need and want from a desi mix grill pub. The manager Gurpreet was very lovely and attentive to all our needs. Keep up the good work. We will be back soon. Dinesh and Gemma
Not much to look at from the outside but once you get inside this is a great place to dine in and take away. The food options are great and there is availability for meat and vegetarian. The portions are incredible in relation to the price. The poppadoms are so filling and the Masala toppings are delicious. Will definitely be keeping this one on the list for every time we are in the Birmingham area.
Nice little pub located right opposite the train station and with a small carpark at the rear. Been in a few times for a drink or two, but went this time for food.
Have to say this place was recommended very highly, and didn't reach anywhere near the heights that were promised.
The largest mixed grill was mostly loaded with chicken, and some of the stuff had the texture of reheated leftovers. One of the issues with going there too early in the day perhaps. Some of the food was nice, I was definitely a fan of the battered masala chips.
I was served a Kingfisher beer in a Stella glass which isn't that big an issue, but it does point toward how laid back it is there. Prices are reasonable though.
