About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Plume of Feathers – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away in Ickleford. From what folks are saying, the food really steals the show; whether it's a tasty starter for under a tenner or their famed Sunday lunch and pizzas, everything comes out spot on and doesn't cost the earth. I love how welcoming it is too – the staff are dead helpful, and the crowd makes you feel right at home, especially if you're there for a match or just a quiet drink. They've nailed the beer selection as well, with some cracking guest ales that could keep any beer lover happy for hours. On the flip side, the opening times can be a tad confusing with those varying schedules, and without a website, it's not always straightforward to plan ahead. Still, if you're in the area, it's well worth a visit for a bit of that warm, community feel – just give it a ring first to confirm they're open. All in all, it's got that 4.4 rating for a reason; a proper balanced spot with more highs than lows.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious starters, hearty Sunday lunches, and cracking homemade pizzas, all at reasonable prices around £6.50 to £7.50.
-
The atmosphere is so welcoming; staff are friendly, locals are chatty, and it's a brilliant spot for catching the rugby or just relaxing with a pint.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, including interesting guest ales like Woodforde’s Wherry, which makes it a real treat for ale enthusiasts.
-
It's reasonably priced overall, with a moderate vibe that doesn't break the bank, and the service is top-notch from what I've heard.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit muddled, with varying closing times listed for Sundays – it might be worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.
-
No website means it's trickier to look up menus or events online, so you might have to pop in or call ahead if you're planning a visit.
-
Being in a quieter spot like Ickleford, it might not be the easiest to get to if you're not local, though that's part of its charm.

We had a £7.50 starter for a lunch which was delicious, good service and reasonably priced. Dessert was £6.50.
The best Sunday Lunch around!
And if you don't like Sunday Lunch have one of their wonderful home made pizzas!
This is a pub with a great welcome where you can feel immediately comfortable. Very good food with some interesting guest ales. If I lived locally this would definitely be my local!
Had a lovely pizza thin crust here. Very friendly staff, and locals very friendly. Watch the rugby good atmosphere . Reasonable prices. Good pub food.
What a great find. Used the Cask Mark app to find pubs near me that served Woodforde’s Wherry - my favourite beer - and the Plume came up. Well, not just a fantastic pint, but really great grub. Wish this was my local!
