About This Pub
Ah, The Plimsoll, what a gem in the heart of Finsbury Park! From chatting with folks who've been there, it's clear this place knows how to deliver on the food front – those burgers are getting all the love, with people calling them the best in London, and the rest of the menu sounds just as tempting with its seasonal twists and bold flavours. The staff are dead helpful and make everything feel effortless, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a good chat over a pint. It's got that cool, trendy feel with dark wood and arty decor that draws in a lively crowd, but honestly, it does get jam-packed, so you might end up elbow-to-elbow if you don't book ahead. On the downside, a few have mentioned the seasoning being a bit heavy-handed on some dishes, which could put off those who prefer things milder. All in all, it's a solid spot for foodies and pub lovers alike – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep an eye on those little niggles to manage your expectations. It's got that 4.4 rating for a reason, and from the buzz, it's well deserved!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The burgers are simply outstanding – I've heard folks rave about them being the best in London, and from what I've seen, they're spot on!
-
The service is spot on; friendly and welcoming without being over the top, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got a brilliant vibe with dark wood interiors and cool artwork, perfect for a trendy night out with mates.
-
The food overall is packed with flavour and passion, with seasonal dishes that really hit the mark.
-
It's open most evenings and weekends, so you can pop in for a relaxed pint or a full meal.
Cons
-
It can get really packed, especially on busy nights, which might make it a bit of a squeeze to find a spot.
-
Some dishes, like the cheeseburger, might come across as a tad too salty for those with a more sensitive palate.
-
As a smaller venue, the hype means it fills up quickly, so you might need to plan ahead rather than just dropping in.
-
With a moderate price tag, it might feel a bit steep if you're just after a quick drink without the food.

You know what, it is the best burger in London. There I said it. If you like small plates and trendy cool people this is the place for you. Dark wood interior, cool paintings and the house lager has a rip off of the final fantasy 8 logo. Say less. Service friendly without, uh, efficiency shall we saym really though burger was great BUT SO WERE THW OTHER THINGS AND THE DESSERT.
Interestingly the most hyped cheeseburger was the least favourite menu of us, not because it wasn’t tasty but all others were unexpectedly scrumptious. The flavour profiles were all so on point although for my preference the meal could’ve been more enjoyable if the food was slightly less saltier.
To put it in another way, the chefs do know how to maximise satisfaction with salt and saltiness is the foundation for each dish to build layers of bursting flavours. This was one of those rare experiences where I left the place satiated when the dishes were quite explicitly salty.
It’s very worth it, you could still dilute the salt with more drinks at least!
The service is amazing, the food is next level - each course, you can taste the passion. It does get busy - really busy - for a small place. But it has an amazing vibe. (Some of the pics are not picture perfect, but I was enjoying my time too much)
Managed to get a late table at The Plimsoll and as a massive foodie and pub lover, I’ve been trying to visit this spot for ages!
I may have over-ordered out of sheer excitement, but no regrets—it was absolutely worth it. I can confidently say this is one of London’s best burgers (if not the best I’ve had).
We also had the potatoes with garlic aioli, which were rich and delicious and the pappardelle, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The pork? Incredible—no surprise there.
The only slight miss was the lemon sole, which was undercooked. However, when we let the staff know, they were incredibly understanding and immediately took it off the bill. Their response was so professional that it didn’t take away from the experience at all—plus, the flavors and sauce were still fantastic.
I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Beyond the food, the pub itself has amazing vibes and a great atmosphere.
10/10—highly recommend!
Everything was absolutely brilliant. From the staff and the place itself to of course the delicious food.
Yes, the cheeseburger is super tasty, but don't miss any of the other incredible seasonal items on the menu.
It was hard to choose but in the end we shared one burger, the sea bream and the chicken, with the potatoes and alioli 🤤
