About This Pub

Ah, The Perfect Match – it's one of those hidden gems that really stands out for its fantastic grub and homely feel. From the reviews, it sounds like they've nailed the Sunday lunch scene, with dishes full of flavour and wines that pair beautifully, making every meal feel special. The staff are bang on, offering that warm service that keeps things relaxed and enjoyable. But, let's be straight, it's not all perfect; a few folks mentioned the portions being a bit mean, and there were grumbles about the roast potatoes or beef not quite living up to expectations now and then. Still, with such a strong 4.8 rating, I'd say it's well worth popping in if you're after a proper treat – just keep an eye on what you're ordering to avoid any letdowns. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out, balancing the highs and lows in a way that feels genuine.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with sublime cooking and flavours that really hit the spot, especially their Sunday roasts and wine pairings.
  • The service is friendly and spot-on, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a cosy little spot with a great atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or a special occasion.
  • They offer excellent value for money, even if it's not the bargain basement – the overall experience feels worth it.
  • With high ratings and positive vibes, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a memorable dining experience.
Cons
  • Portions can be a bit on the skimpy side, like just a couple of roast potatoes or a spoonful of veg, which might leave you feeling a tad short-changed.
  • Some dishes don't always shine, such as the roast potatoes or beef that was described as tasteless in a few reviews, so quality can vary.
  • It might come across as a bit pricey for what you get, which could put off those looking for a more budget-friendly night out.
  • Their opening hours seem a bit limited, only open five days a week, so it might not be ideal if you're planning a spontaneous visit.

Booked for the Sunday roast because we had heard great things about it. The roast pork was very nice , beef less so and was a little tasteless. Portions were a little less than most restaurants. 2 roast potatoes, a spoon full of cabbage. Wine was ok probably would have preferred something with a bit more body.. Cheese board was way overpriced. Literally could not have cut a smaller piece of cheese and at £4 each !!!!! Service was good . Overall had better and won’t be rushing back.

Lovely Sunday Lunch. Our first time at “The Perfect Match”. This is a lovely place, small, cosy, friendly and a good atmosphere, great food wine, lager and IPA. Really enjoyed the Brightside IPA and roast beef dinner. Quality food, wine and service from the staff, even substituting the cabbage for broccoli with my main. Excellent carrot cake dessert and a perfect cappuccino to finish.

The best food I’ve had all year, sublime cooking, balanced, full of flavour and matched with some superb wines which elevated the whole experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place, and despite not being cheap, it still manages to be excellent value for money. The restaurant itself was large enough to be comfortable, small enough to be intimate, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Couldn’t ask for more.

Visited here for a quick Sunday lunch. The beef was incredible , the only let down was the roast potatoes. Service was superb and a nice atmosphere. Would try again hopefully the spuds aren't normally not great maybe it was due to it being late and the England game was on.

The perfect match was a new place, recommended by our friends and it was a very pleasant surprise! The food was top notch, the wine pairings complimented the dishes impeccably, the service was perfect and the overall experience certainly worth the price. We chose the a la carte menu but we will be going back for the taster menu very soon. 2 starters, 2 mains with 2 side dishes, along with 2 desserts with their desert wine pairings went for around £70 pp which for the experience and quality was beyond worth it.
