About This Pub

Ah, The Old Wharf Inn in Stourbridge is one of those neighbourhood gems that's just perfect for a relaxed catch-up over a pint or a hearty meal. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really shines – think delicious breakfasts with buttermilk buns and butchers' bacon, or those much-talked-about Sunday roasts that keep the place packed. It's all about fresh, seasonal plates and a solid drinks menu with real ales and craft spirits that hit the spot every time. The vibe is spot on too, with its canal-side location and welcoming staff who make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for coffee or staying for dinner. On the downside, a few folks have mentioned that some dishes don't quite deliver, like one experience with underwhelming pork that was chewy and bland, which stings a bit when you're paying a premium. Prices are definitely on the higher end, and that automatic service charge can catch you off guard, even if the team are doing a top job. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out if you're after quality grub and drinks, but I'd say it's worth keeping an eye on the bill and maybe sticking to the hits on the menu to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with standout breakfasts and Sunday roasts that have people raving – it's all fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to sort things out, even if you forget to book.
  • It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere in this canal-side spot, with great outdoor seating for a relaxed vibe.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of real ales, craft spirits, and wines, making it a proper treat for anyone who loves a good drink.
Cons
  • Some dishes can fall a bit flat, like the pork that one person found chewy and lacking in flavour, which is a shame at the prices.
  • The costs add up quickly, with meals being on the pricey side for what you get, so it might not suit everyone’s budget.
  • That 10% service charge on the bill can feel a tad sneaky, even if the service is good – it's worth checking to avoid surprises.

Went for Breakfast the past Saturday. Despite me not booking when I thought I had, like a fool, the staff were very helpful and found us seats regardless. The breakfast was the best I have had in the area, very much so looking forward to going back for lunch or dinner.

service and atmosphere was excellent. Food a bit of a let down for me with being such a high price. I had the pork which to me hadn't much taste, you would of expected it to had crackling, no joy it was a bit chewy. Also wasn't that impressed with the gravy, it seemed to take the taste away from everthing else on the plate which I had to put a lot of salt on to get some taste back. My wife had the beef which after tasting it I wish I had. Top marks for the dessert with having the honey pie with spicy crumble plus ice cream, I could of easily had another portion.

Food and service was excellent. Limited menu but all we had was good. Staff very helpful. Just one gripe 10% service charge on foot of the bill it is discretionary but something to look out for. We always and did tip if we have good service. However not £25!

Came here with my friend and has a fantastic experience. The staff were welcoming and very attentive. I had the cod with orzo, absolutely delicious and great portion size. My friend was catered for being a vegan and enjoyed it. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Our Sunday lunch/birthday meal with our family was excellent. My photos do not do it justice. It is busy for a reason, great friendly staff, an excellent menu and a friendly atmosphere with the option of outside seating.
