About This Pub

Ah, The Old Nags Head – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the moment you step inside. From what folks are saying, it's got this incredible old-school vibe with walls absolutely covered in Manchester's iconic music, football, and telly nods, making it feel like a proper slice of the city's soul. The beers are spot on, with a solid range of drafts and cask ales that pair perfectly with the lively atmosphere, and don't even get me started on the George Best memorabilia – it's a treat for any footy fan. There's plenty of space across the floors, and that convenient location off Deansgate means it's easy to pop in for a quick pint or a longer catch-up. On the flip side, the opening times can be a tad confusing, especially with those varying Sunday slots, and without a website, you might have to rely on word of mouth or a spontaneous visit. Plus, in such a buzzing area, it does get crowded, so if you're after a peaceful evening, you might need to time it right. All in all, it's a brilliant spot that captures the essence of Manchester pubs, and I'd say it's well worth a go if you're in the mood for something authentic and fun.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The interior is absolutely stunning, with walls packed full of Manchester music, football, and TV references that really make you feel right at home in the heart of the city.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers on tap, including some top-notch cask options and plenty of George Best memorabilia that adds a proper Man United vibe.
  • It's got that classic old-school pub charm, with brilliant wall art, fantastic music in the background, and multiple floors offering loads of space to settle in.
  • Tucked away in a quiet spot off Deansgate, it's conveniently located in the city centre, making it a perfect shortcut and a must-visit for anyone exploring Manchester.
  • The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming, with a real sense of history and community that makes every visit feel special.
Cons
  • The operating hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, which might leave you guessing if it's open late or not, especially on Sundays.
  • Without a website or much online presence, it's tricky to check details in advance, so you might end up winging it when planning a trip.
  • Being in a busy city centre spot, it can get quite packed at times, which might make it hard to find a quiet corner on a bustling evening.

Great old school proper pub in the busy centre of Manchester just down a quiet road off deansgate. Everywhere you look the walls and ceilings are covered in Manchester music, football and TV references, decent beers and music as well. Three floors make this a fantastic pub to visit when in the spinning fields area.

Brilliant bar Manchester themed, with a Georgie Best slant. Music backdrop is fantastic. Wall art throughout the 2 floors is brilliant too. Definitely the best boozer in Manchester! A must see place. You won't be disappointed

One of the better pubs in Manchester when it comes to appearances. Gorgeous exterior and interior with lots of flowers, unique photos from back in the day, and plenty of George Best memorabilia. A proper Man United pub. A ton of draft options but also some great cask handles. Lots of space to find a table and enjoy a pint.
