About This Pub

Oh, what a gem The Old Chainyards is for anyone after a relaxed evening in a proper pub setting. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, it's all about that heartfelt welcome that makes you feel like you're popping in to see old mates – the staff and regulars really go out of their way to make it welcoming. The beers are an absolute highlight; they've got a lovely range of real ales that keep things interesting with regular changes, and at such reasonable prices, it's easy to see why people rave about the value. Nights with karaoke bring a bit of excitement and laughter, turning a simple visit into a memorable night. On the flip side, it's got that traditional, straightforward feel which might not tickle everyone's fancy if you're in the mood for something a bit more polished or with a view. It's set in a quiet estate, so it's more about the inside buzz than the surroundings, and those afternoon opening times could be a minor letdown if you're an early bird. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back catch-up over a pint, and I'd say it's worth a try if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, especially real ales that change regularly for plenty of variety
  • Prices are spot on for a good night out – it's inexpensive and offers great value without skimping on quality
  • Events like karaoke add a fun, lively touch that really gets everyone involved and enjoying themselves
Cons
  • It has that classic old-school pub vibe, which might feel a tad basic if you're after something more modern or fancy
  • Being tucked away in a residential estate, it's not the most scenic spot, so it could lack a bit of kerb appeal
  • Opening times start a bit late in the afternoon, which might not suit those wanting an early pint
