About This Pub

Ah, The Old Bank in Grantham – it's one of those pubs that really captures that classic British feel, you know? I've heard from folks that the drinks are always a highlight; whether you're after a smooth pint or a cheeky cocktail, they've got plenty to choose from, and it's just the ticket for unwinding after a long day. The atmosphere is spot on too, with a beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun and loads of screens for watching the footie or rugby – it's brilliant for a group get-together. Service-wise, the team seems genuinely welcoming, which makes it easy to pop in for a quick one or a full evening out. On the downside, the food can be a mixed bag; some rave about the value and portions, but others have had off days with dishes that don't quite deliver, like a steak that was more tough than tender or sides that didn't impress. Still, it's a solid spot for what it does best – good drinks and a friendly buzz – so if you're in the area, I'd say give it a go, but maybe stick to the bevvies if you're not feeling adventurous with the menu.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are spot on, with a fantastic selection of beers and cocktails that always hit the mark for a relaxing pint or something a bit fancier.
  • It's a welcoming spot with a great atmosphere, perfect for catching live sports on the TVs or enjoying the beer garden on a sunny day.
  • Service is generally friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Prices are reasonable, offering good value for pub grub and drinks without breaking the bank.
  • Family and dog-friendly policies make it a versatile choice for a casual outing with loved ones.
Cons
  • Food quality can be inconsistent; some meals are tasty and filling, but others, like certain steaks or sides, might leave you disappointed.
  • There have been reports of service hiccups, such as delays in getting your food, which can put a damper on the experience.
  • A few maintenance issues crop up, like the odd whiff of uncleaned fryers or a telly screen that's a bit dim, which isn't ideal.
  • The place can feel a tad neglected in spots, such as with facilities that need a bit of TLC, like a toilet lock that's not quite right.

3 pints, taste good, service great, onion rings nice, tv screen a bit dark but viewable and toilet needs a lock. Good experience will be back. Not bad at all

Medium rare steak that could sole shoes. "Mashed potatoe" was rubbery enough to bounce off the floor back onto the plate. Cannot believe the prices they serve for such poor quality pub grub. And the pub stinks of uncleaned deep fat fryers 🤢 would give zero stars if I could. The chef has such poor skill he can't even fry an egg properly. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Overall a brilliant place to be! During the day time it's warm and cozy with an excellent range of food on the menu. At night is a party club environment! I went during lunch time and the food was incredible. Only had a small meal from the menu but I was stuffed and the price was great for what I got. I highly recommend anyone from or around Grantham to come here for food. Or if you and friends want to have a good dance/party this is the place to be. 👍

Overall, as a restaurant, it's a huge miss for us. As a pub, it wasn't bad. Plenty of TVs and space to spread out. The food is a good value, but the burgers reminded me of the cheap frozen patties you buy at the wholesale stores. I would only recommend eating here if you wanted a snack while drinking as its not dinner worthy.

I have been to The Old Bank a couple of times and it's OK place to get some drinks or have a meal. The food was good for its price, a quite a big choice of meals and options. However my meal was served around 10 mins later than people's who ordered after me. Great choice of beers & drinks, drinks were very nice (2 for 1). The staff was nice and helpful.
