About This Pub

Ah, The Northern Way – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a relaxed evening out in Paisley. I've got to say, the drinks menu is a winner; they've got everything from classic lagers like Tennents and Carling to premium options like Birra Moretti, and the prices are dead reasonable, making it easy on the wallet. The place is massive with loads of space, perfect for groups or just settling in to watch the footie on those big screens – it's got Sky Sports, BT, and even racing channels, so you're sorted for all the action. The staff are usually chuffed to help and there's fun stuff like karaoke if you're in the mood for a singalong. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing; I've heard a few gripes about the bar service being a bit hit-or-miss, like when they overlook who's waiting, which can be a right nuisance on busy nights. Plus, the toilets have had some complaints about being a bit neglected, and occasionally the atmosphere can turn a tad rowdy, with noise levels making it hard to have a proper chat or even dealing with the odd unsavoury character. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time without breaking the bank, but it'd be even better with a bit more attention to those little details – definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with realistic expectations!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are spot on with a fantastic selection of beers, lagers, ciders, and even some local cask ales – and at really reasonable prices, like grabbing a pint for around £3!
  • It's a spacious pub with plenty of seating, making it easy to find a spot, especially if you're popping in for live sports on their big HD screens.
  • The staff are generally friendly and helpful, and they've got great entertainment options like karaoke booths and live music on weekends.
  • Being centrally located in Paisley, it's super convenient, and they show all the major football matches on Sky Sports and BT, which is brilliant for footie fans.
Cons
  • Occasionally, the bar staff can get a bit overwhelmed and miss who's next in line, which might leave you waiting a tad longer than you'd like.
  • Some areas, like the toilets, have been reported as not up to scratch with issues like leaks and grime, which takes away from the overall experience.
  • There have been a few mentions of it getting too noisy at times, making it hard to chat without raising your voice, and sadly, the odd unpleasant encounter with other visitors.
  • While it's open late, the varying opening times could be clearer, and it might not always feel as polished as you'd hope for a night out.

The Bar prices are on par with a well known pub chain, the Northern plays music, shows live sport, and offers karaoke. The premises are clean and well presented. On occasion, the bar staff need to be more aware of who is next in line. It is frustrating when waiting to be served, and two or three just arrive at the bar and receive immediate service, so stars lost for this. Other wise, a Great Pub, Location, and Atmosphere.

Have to say been here a few times. Prices and service top notch. Big pub with loads of space centrally located. What's not to like about this pub, Cheers

It's a shame. As we have been drinking in this bar for a number of years, and sadly, it is going to the dogs. The downstairs gents toilet has had a leaking urinal for weeks, no seat on the toilet pan and years of dust on the walls. I do not go into a bar I order to shout at my friends. However, that is all we seem to do due to the music being so loud, and then the music stopped and football was showing on the TV at full volume. Sadly this is not a place to have a conversation. We had to leave early because we were feeling cold. We were all sitting there chittering due to the doors being open. When I asked if they could close them, I was told that the bar staff were overheating (why not put fans above the bar area then). To that end, within 30 minutes the people on the next two tables and people standing at the bar area had all left, because of the cold draught coming through the doorway. Still a good bar with a great atmosphere. However.....

First time In and will definitely be back. Lovely big pub, great and friendly bar staff and £3.25 for a quality pint of Tennents. I would have gave it five stars if it wasn't for the vile, racist bigot sitting at the bar who used the term "Tarrier". I'm glad I kept my cool.

Smart, recently refurbished pub in the centre of Paisley. Friendly staff. Large so plenty of seating. Good entertainment on weekends. Great selection of drinks and very well priced too (£3.10 for a pint of Heineken Silver!) - takes card.
