About This Pub
Ah, The Nico Ditch—it's one of those places that just warms you up from the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this really inviting atmosphere with unique decor and lighting that makes you feel right at home, whether you're there for a quiet drink or one of their cool events like film screenings or photography exhibitions. The staff sound like absolute stars, always so welcoming and keen to support local artists and creatives, which gives the whole spot a lovely community spirit. And let's not forget the drinks—there's a cracking selection of cocktails and beers, including some gluten-free gems that are a treat to find. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a bit hit-and-miss, only open five days a week, so you might need to double-check before heading out. Plus, it's tucked away in Ashton-under-Lyne, which is brilliant if you're local but could be a trek otherwise, and their online setup is just an Instagram page, making it harder to get the lowdown without a visit. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for a chilled night, but it's worth bearing those little niggles in mind to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The unique decor and atmosphere make it feel like a real hidden gem, with cosy vibes and quirky spaces that are perfect for relaxing or enjoying events.
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, always supportive of local talent and creatives, which adds a warm, community feel to the place.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, including delicious cocktails, a variety of beers on tap and in bottles, and even some rare gluten-free options that you don't see everywhere.
-
It's brilliant for events like film screenings, photography exhibitions, and vinyl nights, giving it that extra buzz and making every visit special.
-
The overall vibe is super safe and comfortable, which is a big plus for anyone wanting a laid-back spot to unwind with friends.
Cons
-
The operating hours can seem a bit inconsistent or limited, with it only open about five days a week, so you might have to plan around that.
-
Its online presence is pretty basic—just an Instagram page—so it's not the easiest to find detailed info or make enquiries without popping in.
-
Being in Ashton-under-Lyne, it might not be the most convenient for folks from further afield, though it's well worth the trip if you're nearby.
-
With only around 35 reviews so far, it feels like a newer spot that hasn't built up a huge following yet, which could mean fewer events or crowds on quieter nights.
-
No phone number listed makes it tricky if you need to check something quickly, like whether they're open or what's on offer.

Love this venue! It's unique with really cool decor and atmosphere. They even have a great space for film screenings. The staff are lovely and welcoming and have a really supportive attitude for the arts, creatives and local talent. Highly recommend!
Visited for a photography exhibition and it was well worth the trip to Ashton, a really cozy pub with pretty decor and lights, delicious cocktails and a great atmosphere. Definitely visiting again! I hear the vinyl night is a great one, lovely staff, felt very welcome and safe here.
Loves this place. Wasn't expecting it when we walked in. It's a right little gem. Very laid back, very comfortable. Feels cozy and safe. The got a squat vibe to it, with loads of people just doing their own thing. Super friendly and lovely. DJ playing original vinyls and spinning music rather than digital which was great! Such great vibes. Can't wait to go back.
Lovely new bar opened in Ashton - great vibe to the place with indoor and outdoor seating.
Good variety of beer on offer, both on tap and in the bottle, including a variety of European beers.
Lovely atmosphere and attracts a nice crowd. Upstairs is a stunning art display with more events to come.
A great addition to the town.
Great new bar (and art exhibition space!) in Ashton. I found the place comfortable and safe for a woman to visit and overall super cosy. Drink selection is great with amazing gluten free options which is normally rare to find! The two sections of the place are quirky and unique. Will definitely visit again.
