About This Pub
Ah, The New Entertainer – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away in Gorleston-on-Sea. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its fantastic range of real ales and local brews; it's one of those pubs where you can settle in with a pint and feel like you've found a hidden treasure. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's during a quiz night or that entertaining weekly raffle. It's got that warm, cosy vibe that's just perfect for unwinding, with live sports on offer and a little beer garden for when the weather plays ball. On the flip side, it doesn't seem to do much with food, so if you're peckish for more than a quick snack, you might want to plan accordingly. And without a website, it's a tad old-school in how you find out about it, which could be a minor annoyance. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine, welcoming pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The real ale selection is absolutely spot on, with a great mix of local and further afield brews that really hit the spot for any beer enthusiast.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming – think John, Rebecca, and the team making you feel right at home with their cheerful chats and top-notch service.
-
It's got that classic, cosy traditional pub atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed evening, complete with quiz nights, raffles, and even live sports to keep things lively.
-
The beer garden is a nice little bonus, offering a bit of outdoor space on a sunny day, and it's buzzing on weekends which adds to the fun vibe.
Cons
-
It seems like food isn't a big focus here – one mention of not eating, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
No website means it's a bit tricky to check out menus or events online, which could be a hassle if you're planning ahead.
-
The traditional feel might not suit everyone; if you're after something more modern or trendy, this one's more of an old-school charmer.

Did not eat there. Nice little pub. Great quiz night.
Proper old fashioned boozer with great real ale. Brilliant service from John and Rebecca and a young man whose name I didn't get. In the photo they are doing the weekly raffle - very entertaining. Thoroughly recommended - I'll definitely go back on my next break. 👍😀🥴🍻
Great pub. Super selection of ale from local and a far. Friendly staff.
Superb selection of cask beers, excellent music selection... A very busy place on the Saturday night I visited. Both barstaff were cheerful knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk with. Also there's a Banksy within ½ mile.
Lovely local pub with friendly helpful staff in a traditional cosy environment. Great range of real ales and local Lacock beer and choice drinks on offer as well as live sports. Small courtyard beer garden on offer but on a corner so plenty of room. We'll worth a visit.
