The Mallard in Gateshead

Ah, The Mallard in Felling is one of those classic pubs that just warms your heart the moment you step inside – it's got that genuine North East charm with staff who are always up for a chat and make you feel like part of the furniture. I really appreciate the good selection of beers, like their excellent Guinness, and the prices are spot on for keeping things affordable without skimping on quality. It's brilliant for sports fans too, with a big projector that comes down for the big events and BT Sport to keep the excitement going. The location's a winner as well, right by the bus stop and Metro, so it's dead convenient for a quick pint or meeting up after work. On the downside, it's a pity they don't have real ales or Sky Sports, which might put off some folks, and if you're after a proper meal, you'll have to sort that out with a delivery since they don't serve food themselves. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, though it could do with a bit more variety to keep things fresh – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives definitely outweigh the niggles.
