About This Pub
Ah, The Kings Arms – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper British gem, you know? From chatting through the reviews, it sounds like the staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and that extra bit of help to sort you out, whether you're popping in for a pint or staying the night. The rooms really impressed me; they're surprisingly spacious and well-equipped for a pub setup, with powerful showers that give you that invigorating start to the day and little luxuries like coffee makers that make you feel pampered without breaking the bank. Plus, the location's spot on – easy parking, a quick walk to the town centre, and those stunning views of the windmill and fields out back add a lovely touch of countryside charm. On the downside, though, it's a bit frustrating that there aren't any clear operating hours listed, so you might end up double-checking before you head over, just to avoid any surprises. And while it's got that authentic pub feel, which I love, it might not suit everyone if you're expecting something more hotel-like in terms of fancy extras. All in all, it's a solid pick for anyone after a friendly, no-fuss spot to unwind, with just the right mix of homely vibes and decent amenities – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home
-
The rooms are a real treat – comfortable, clean, and packed with nice touches like powerful showers, coffee machines, and even tea-making facilities
-
It's in a brilliant spot with plenty of parking, just a short stroll into town, and some lovely views of the windmill and countryside
-
Everything stays nice and quiet in the rooms, even when the pub's buzzing, which is perfect for a peaceful overnight stay
-
They serve up a cracking breakfast, and the overall atmosphere has that warm, traditional pub charm that makes you want to linger
Cons
-
The operating hours aren't clearly listed anywhere, which could leave you scratching your head if you're planning a visit
-
As it's a pub first and foremost, it might feel a bit less polished than a hotel, so if you're after something more upscale, it could disappoint
-
The reviews don't dive much into the food and drink side beyond breakfast, so you might not get a full picture of what's on offer in the bar

Fantastic stopover. Nice and quiet in our room, couldn't hear the people in the bar area.
Had a works xmas do here, friendly staff and atmosphere, traditional old pub, stayed in a room, nice hot powerful shower to wake up to and a coffee machine in the room too is a nice little extra.
Booked late in the day - but the guys were really accommodating and were able to offer us breakfast anyway. Much more spacious room than I expected for accomodation in a pub (though we did book the 'Superior Ensuite').
Plenty of parking, just a few minutes walk into town, and this spectacular view from the window.

Stayed 2 nights when visiting a friend…
The room was comfortable with kettle coffee tea etc and en-suite bathroom, the shower was the best I’ve had for a while anywhere I’ve stayed as it was a power shower. Nice view of the Maud Foster Windmill and the grazing cattle behind.. They do a nice breakfast but I was out too early for this. Hit the spot. Would revisit…thanks for a nice stay.
Friendly little pub (staff and locals). We stayed for 2 nights and had great service. The room was clean and tidy and stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits. Was within walking distance if the town too. Would definitely go back.
