About This Pub
Ah, The Imperial in Wishaw – it's one of those pubs that really captures that old-school community spirit, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making everyone feel included, which is spot on for a relaxed evening. It's especially buzzing for Glasgow Rangers supporters, with folks raving about grabbing a cold pint of Tennants and soaking in the match-day energy. Plus, the prices are dead reasonable, so you won't feel like you're splashing out just for a quick drink with mates. On the downside, it seems like they've done some renovations that haven't sat well with everyone – things like replacing the proper wood with vinyl and ditching the vibrant reds for grey leather, which has left a few feeling it's lost a bit of its character and become more generic. Still, with most reviews landing at four or five stars, it's clear this place has its heart in the right spot. If you're after a genuine local haunt, I'd say give it a go, but keep in mind it might not be everyone's cup of tea anymore. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual pint, and you can judge for yourself whether those changes are a step forward or not.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a cracking spot for Glasgow Rangers fans, with a lively atmosphere when the matches are on, perfect for cheering on the team with a cold pint.
-
Drinks are cheap and cheerful, making it a great choice for a budget-friendly night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
Some recent changes to the decor, like swapping out real wood for vinyl and painting over the vibrant colours, have taken away a bit of that traditional charm, leaving it feeling a tad modern and less cosy.
-
It's a small space, which means it can get a bit snug on busier evenings, and you might miss out if you're not a local regular.

Great pub to watch the mighty Glasgow Rangers.
Great wee boozer. Cheap and cheerful with salt of the earth staff
Saw photos on the CAMRA website and heard tales from relatives about this pub in the past but upon visiting it last December I can confirm that a monumental decline has occured. Ripping out the real wood for vinyl, replacing the detailed fabric for cheap faux grey leather, painting the vibrant red and gold a dull grey, getting rid of the art deco lighting and covering the place with cheap Rangers tat. Dull as murky dishwater
Friendly enough pub full of characters with a lovely cold pint of Tennants ready for you. If by chance you like Glasgow Rangers then this is perfect for you.
One of the most welcoming bars in Wishaw. Sure, it’s and old mans “local pub for local people” but the bar staff are amazing and the punters welcome you with open arms. It’s a small place, often overlooked, but I’d recommend it.
