About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Hummingbird – it's this lovely little bar in Darlington that's got me smiling just thinking about it. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are an absolute joy; folks like Chloe, Helen, and Cheryl are so welcoming and chatty that they really make the place feel like a second home. And the food? Well, it's spot on – think high-quality breakfasts that hit the spot, or those hearty Sunday dinners that you can take away and still rave about. There's even a sweet sun trap out back for when the weather's on your side, ideal for a chilled afternoon. But it's not all perfect; the hours can be a bit hit and miss, only open four days a week with some confusing schedules, so you might have to plan around that. Plus, without a website, it's not straightforward to check things out beforehand, and with just a handful of reviews, it hasn't quite built up that big following yet. Still, if you're after a genuine, feel-good spot for good grub and great company, I'd say give it a go – it's got that homely charm that's hard to beat.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly faces like Chloe, Helen, and Cheryl make every visit feel warm and welcoming, turning a simple trip into a memorable chat.
  • The food is a real highlight; from amazing breakfasts with top-notch ingredients to gorgeous Sunday dinners, it's fresh, tasty, and leaves you wanting more.
  • There's a lovely sun trap at the back, perfect for soaking up some rays with a drink in hand – it's a nice little spot to relax and enjoy the vibe.
Cons
  • The opening hours seem a bit patchy, with the place only open four days a week and some conflicting times listed for Sundays, which might make planning a visit tricky.
  • Without a website, it's not the easiest to find out more details online, so you might end up winging it when you fancy popping in.
  • With just 21 reviews in total, it doesn't seem to be on everyone's radar yet, which could mean missing out on a wider crowd or more buzz around the place.

Popped in here today and tried out the new food offering. Safe to say I will return. The bar has been a personal favourite of mine since it opens and the food takes it to that next level. Can't wait to try the rest of the food offering and especially the sunday lunch.
