About This Pub

Ah, The Horn at the Half Moon – it's one of those pubs that really warms the cockles of your heart with its lively vibe and commitment to live music, which is a breath of fresh air in Bishop's Stortford. I've got to say, the atmosphere is just spot on; whether you're enjoying a pint in the great outdoor seating on a nice day or tapping your foot to a band inside, it feels like a proper, welcoming spot. The food's another winner – those chicken wings and Mac n cheese bites are dead tasty, and the staff go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, which is always a plus, especially if you've brought your dog along. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; parking's a bit of a headache, often forcing you to play street roulette, and the hours can be a bit patchy, with it only open a few days a week, so you might need to plan ahead. Overall, though, it's a gem for anyone after a good night out with mates, as long as you're prepared for the odd downside – I'd definitely give it a go for the music alone!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music scene is absolutely brilliant – it's a welcoming spot for catching a great band and soaking up the vibe.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, with a proper pub feel and fantastic outdoor seating that's perfect for a sunny afternoon.
  • Food options are a real highlight; the chicken wings and Mac n cheese bites are highly recommended and hit the spot every time.

Cons
  • Parking can be a bit of a faff – it's hit and miss, often leaving you to hunt for street spots.
  • The opening hours seem a tad unpredictable or limited, with only about five days a week, so it might not always be open when you fancy a visit.
  • Some folks might find it just okay for a quick drink without much else going on, based on a few neutral experiences.

Great venue for live music. Parking is hit and miss. Parking in the street. Nice to see a pub making a go at being a live music venue. Bishop's Stortford needs this. Night of visit was a Friday. Live band performing. Quite busy inside. Hope it continues to prosper.

Cool pub, great little venue. Was expecting hit and sweaty, sticky floor, but quite the opposite, even has a/c.
