About This Pub

Ah, The High Stool – it's one of those local Irish pubs that really hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always ready with a smile and top-notch service that makes you feel like you're part of the gang. The authentic Irish vibe, especially with that live music and dancing on Saturdays, sounds like a brilliant way to unwind after a long week in London. Plus, the drinks are reasonably priced, so it's easy on the wallet for a quick catch-up. On the flip side, though, there was this one off-putting experience someone mentioned, where the staff got a bit too carried away with their own conversations, making it uncomfortably loud and unprofessional – not ideal if you're after a peaceful pint. And it's a shame there's no food on offer, so you might find yourself nipping out for a snack. All in all, with a solid 4.4 rating, it's got more ups than downs, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind if you're planning a visit. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; it's a proper community spot with plenty of charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It has a genuine Irish atmosphere that's just spot on, especially with live folk music and dancing on Saturday evenings – a real treat if you're in the mood for some craic.
  • Prices are affordable and offer great value, perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
  • The vibe is relaxed and cosy, ideal for catching up with mates over a pint in a clean and tidy setting.
Cons
  • There have been instances of staff being a bit unprofessional, like getting caught up in loud personal chats that can disrupt the peace.
  • No food options available, so you'll need to head elsewhere if you're after a bite to eat with your drinks.
  • It can get quite noisy at times, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're looking for a quiet spot.

Truly awful experience in this bar. Loud , inane conversation between barmaid and one of the patrons in respect of their social life . (No megaphones required!) I simply had to get up & leave. Barmaid was totally unprofessional .
