About This Pub

Ah, Moloney's Bar – it's one of those unpretentious local haunts that really hits the spot if you're in the mood for a solid pint and some good craic. From what I've gathered, the Guinness here is genuinely excellent, with folks raving about it being the best they've had around, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like that barmaid Shannon who's always cheerful and efficient. The atmosphere is lively, especially if you're catching a match on the telly, and it's got that friendly local crowd that makes chatting easy. On the flip side, it's an older pub, so it can feel a bit tired and we've heard about those annoying flies that might dive into your glass – not ideal for a relaxing evening. Plus, the prices do seem a smidge steep for the area, which could put a damper on things if you're watching the pennies. All in all, it's a decent choice for a casual night out, but I'd say it's best suited if you're up for overlooking the minor niggles in favour of that authentic pub charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • They pour a cracking pint of Guinness – it's been hailed as one of the best in the area, perfect for those who appreciate a proper Irish brew.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, with friendly locals and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home, especially if you're into sports.
  • Staff like Shannon are an absolute delight – helpful, cheerful, and on top of their game, adding a real personal touch to your visit.
  • It's reasonably priced for what you get, and not too far from the train station, making it a convenient spot for a quick stop.
Cons
  • The place feels a bit dated and worn out, which might not appeal if you're after something more modern or polished.
  • There can be an issue with flies buzzing about, which is a bit off-putting and could spoil your drink if you're not careful.
  • Prices seem a tad high for the location, like a small bottle of Budweiser coming in at over £4, which might make you think twice.
  • It has a very male-oriented feel, so it might not be the most inclusive spot for everyone, though the friendliness helps balance that out.

Does a good pint of Guiness. Its a very male pub, but very friendly. The barmaid, Shannon, was helpful, happy and good at her job!

Maybe a good pub for the locals in the area if there is not another one! Pub is old and too much flies inside so you have to be ready to see some of them swimming in your beer 🍺 Prices very high for the location... (1 budweiser small bottle cost £4.20 ) however there are tv screens but they play only horses 🐎 (no football) !! I think this pub is good when you have nothing else to do! If you don't believe me on what i say, go inside and good luck.

Good atmosphere, friendly locals, decent pint, reasonably priced, not to far away from the train station.

Best Guinness I've had in the area for the past month. Keep it up. A month later, been missing a decent Guinness whilst in Spain and having just finished 2 weeks jury service and not in this area. It's good to be back.
