The Golden Ball in Longton

Oh dear, from a couple of owners ago this place is dire now. Food is bought in mass produced poor quality ingredients. Staff are mixed. Wish the new owners the best but poor food offering is a bad base to work from

Friends wanted to treat us to lunch and we recommended the Golden Ball. However the experience left us somewhat embarrassed as the portions were small, unlike the prices charged. Sadly, we won't be returning. Too expensive for underwhelming portion sizes.

The food was abysmal. Partially frozen and cremated on the same plate! Some food didn't come out. Some food did. The bar staff take the brunt of when a kitchen gets it wrong but to their credit, unfortunately I didn't get their names, they were great and tried to help rectify the issues. We waited an hour for the Sunday dinner to come out..understandable if it was busy, but it wasn't, a table who ordered after us waited just as long and were just as disappointed..the table who ordered before us also had issues with their food. When the staff of the restaurant say there's "a lot of room for improvement", you know something isn't right. I know we all want to be out in the sunshine on days like today but the cauliflower cheese was that frozen I could have used it as after sun. Bar staff are by far the biggest asset, just a shame there's no product to back them up. Which dishes do I recommend? The picture of the pie looks alright.

We came in for the Sunday roast. We had the beef and belly pork. The food was really nice and tasty. George, Josh , Daisy & Freya were all attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely, and it feels really welcoming. We would definitely return!

Hi. I would like to come on here and applaud the work of the young ginger lad that used to work here before he recently quit. He cleaned my plate so well that the sparkle sent me to hospital for emergency eye surgery! Thanks Evan
